Hey there..

I tried to suggest Contrack Jack as a game in the beginning of this month, it hasn't been added yet though.

Maybe i did something wrong when trying to suggest it?

They don't really add new games that much, which is a bad thing. Maybe they didn't get around to it yet, or they didn't want to submit it? I also submitted "Rag Doll Kungfu" as a game.

Your request kinda got caught up in the beurocratic system. We didn't forget about it, but it got caught between staffers, but now I'm picking it up. Sometimes the requests take time as well because we do try and do a fair bit of research about each game when we add it.

I'll add it tonight.

And Chunky, we don't really have a policy posted on the site, but we don't add every new game that comes out simply because its moddable. We add games with a modding community or with released mods. We also add games as they are released, not as announced (with a few possible exceptions.)

We also don't directly add engines usually (although I'm trying to work something out with one right now) because players that visit the site might get confused by them.

would adding engine not fall under the Standalone-Section?

Thats what I would think, but I get like 2-4 requests a month that ask that we add their engine as a game so their users can place the games they develop using that engine on the site as mods.

The problem with this are that:
A)Games aren't mods.
B)Engines Aren't Games
C)Players have no idea that its a free (or not free) standalone game that doesn't need anything else.

Mod DB at this point is more about promotions to players than developer resources, so making things make sense to the average gamer or even the "13 year old crack AIMIE LOL WTF" gamer becomes a priority.

Is there really a point to adding a modification of a game to the game list?

It's not a mod and it doesn't run on any existing game engine :P

and it doesn't have a mod community and most likely never will from what I hear.

Moddb doesn't need any more frackin' games on the Game List. It just needs more mods for existing titles.

All you'd be modding is the Source engine because that's what it's built on. What would be the use of making mods particularly for that?

What are you talking about?! It does not run on any existing game engine (that includes Source)

Thanks for adding CJ :)

Actually I appreciate being corrected. It isn't the source engine. You kinda take those things for granted when the title includes "Rag Doll" and is provided by Steam.

But it still doesn't seem like the kind of game you'd see very many mods for, if at all.

I thought skins and addons were also allowed at moddb (like rts campaigns)

Making skins is already possible, and a level editor along with mod tools is going to be released soon...

Of course it's allowed. If people will actually mod it, we would add it.

Games are added based on hype and demand, generally.
