And no one missed it Naw, just kidding, but what made you abandon the project at first? Or, if you didn't abandon it, put it on hold? I remember hearing about this mod some time ago... Of course, when I read this thread title, I thought you meant S.T.A.L.K.E.R: Shadows of Chernobyl. Who was our STALKER expert on here, anyway... I "finished" it years ago back when Darkplaces wasn't too big. With the recent Darkplaces, I thought i'd pick it up and make some fixes and changes for the sake of fun -- < insert subject games here >

Well, those are pretty cool screenshots. I might reinstall Quake and give it a try sometime... Of course, I say that, and I never do it. I've only downloaded as many mods that I can count them on one hand. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

You don't need quake, it'll work on open quartz. Or even 4d shooter. -- < insert subject games here >

As has been explained before, it uses new visual effects that the newer versions of darkplaces has. |

All I see that is DP worthy is the muzzleflash, and custom client pitch (which can still be achieved in q1). |

Also, due to the large size of the progs *cough* lots of weapons, vehicles, and other miscellaneous things *cough*, it's really unstable in every other engine - only DP is capable of running it. Edited by: leilei -- < insert subject games here >

Nothing wrong with that. When I find the time and space (my bro has been downloading like made since we only have less than 2 gigs on the system), I'll be sure to give it a try -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

According to the readme the reason was too much precaching for regular Quake1 to handle. Also yes, that "flame" is darkplaces specific and not created in any other way. That model also is from somewhere else. Other than the precache problem and the "reduce lag" that it claims to take advantage of it doesn't seem to be using anything significant from darkplaces. Not saying it should but when forcing someone to use 1 specific engine only because the coding managed to overuse precache (Where I must say?) is kind of stupid. |
