sniper fire Thread

Ok I have been working on the story for this mod for the past two days so here you go.

You play as one of the president's elete snipers (not any president in particurlar i am a Bush supporter) and your son calls you one day and tells you that your wife has been kidnaped. You immedately go home and start to investigate this claim, find it is true, and find her body in one of the dumpsters a few blocks from your house.

Eventually you find the group responsable for her death, but it is much bigger than what you thougt. The terrorist group who murdered your wife and you soon discover that they have a plot to asassinate the president! (tell me you havn't heard that before)

Once you get back to work and inform the president and your supervisonr fo the impending danger, you are thought to be working to hard and have gone nuts; therefore, they give you a vacation. Guess who is at the next big event the president is at? The terrorist group and you.

So from there on out the story unfolds a little more and you discover plans (in the form of paper in the game) and then you are brought back to your job and lead the defencive assault against this new threat.

Ok wepon wise you will have a sniperrifil at all times, a pistol (9mm?), and you will be able to take the terrorist wepons.

They include...
ar33 (from 007 goldeneye. it is like an m16)
desert eagle
9mm sub
shotgun
tazer
combat knife

kinda but you are more of on the ground missions trying to get from your sniper nest to the president.

i don't like the name 'Sniper Fire' and the story sounds kinda corny/Max Payne-ish. But hell, sniper rifles are always fun

this story took 2 days to develop?

- why would terrorist kidnap a random sniper's wife?

- why would the government think you are nuts if you report a terrorist planned attack?

- why would a random sniper that protects the president go on a detective mission for his missing wife, instead of just reporting it?

and the rest just doesnt fit in...

well. im still working on the story just lik eim workingon a mod team as of now but it is suppoed to be that he looks for his wife with the poliece but they are of almost no help. and the rest will get better with time.

im fully open to suggestions on the name!!! anything that could be of any help at this stage of the game will be greatly appriecated.

How about "Brainless Support For The President"? ^_^

To be honest this sounds rather generic, and even if it weren't pro-Bush, my response would be along the lines of "Meh."

If you can think of some really inventive gameplay mechanic for it, and make it at least somewhat different than the rest of the games/mods involving snipers out there, I might be more interested.

P.S. Terrorists usually don't act randomly like that. Unless the wife had just flushed a Quran down the toilet (pardon the news reference), I don't quite understand why they would kill his wife. Either flesh that out a bit, or make it a gang instead.

it sounds like a story impossible to tell via a first person shooter, people don't want go somewhere shoot stuff only to then read the story via text because they coudln't udnerstand what was going on without it.

Where this idea lacks originality with storyline it will make up for in fun sniper gameplay.

What engine would you mod?

i wanted to use the hl2 engin and that was my plan the gameplay makes up for my lack of a story!!

what gameplay? shooting terrorists like all the other mods? You listed all those guns that are going to be in it, but they have been used before. And how are you going to animate and model all of them without a team? You need a good story to appeal to someone who will see it and want to join your team.

im pmed intense asking how to get started with a mod team. hopefully im going to be able to start one soon, but if i don't any mod team can take this if they want, as long as they tell me i want to see it being workedon.

are you serious? if you dont know how to start up a mod team, then there is no way you can lead one. he's the site creator. why would you ask him that?

I personally think a mod where you play as a non-American sniper would be cool.. Like maybe a U.S.S.R. spy in the Cold War, or a mercenary in Vietnam..

Well yeah I guess it would be cool to be one of the greatest Vietnamese snipers of all time... wait second... Carlos Hathcock shot that guy through his scope. Okay that wasn't nice, but yeah I think that would be a cool idea, or maybe even like a police sniper or soemthing.

INtense! wasn't a mod leader, he was only a webdesigner.

ya the vitenam idea is cool. anyways im not going to be able to do this mod i don't have enought time now im traveling a little and just have stuff to do so any body who wants to take this feel free.

Registering a mod here does not require you to pm the webmaster. I think the instructions are pretty clear.

No offense, but how can you make a mod when you cant even navigate around a webpage to find how to register one?

The ultimate snipers are the Canadians... from Nova Scotia. One of them took out a Taliban fighter 1 1/2 miles away and another through corrugated metal 1 1/4 miles away.
