Hai you guys! Some may remember me from the cel shading project and the custom anime story called ""Serious Ki" which was a miz between DBZ and fantasy anime.

Unfortunatly it seemed that most people didn't play the SS engine and DBZ was beginning to get dull and lame. (Since there are somany of them)

So we decided to start a new mod on the halflife engine. After alot of discussion we decided that HL was the best option because many people play it and the SDK is relatively easy if you compare it with Serious sam.

Later on I holded a poll here to decide what we were going to do. At the end we have chosen for a Inu Yasha mod. Unfortunatly I discovered that a Inu yasha mod (Called the Inu Yasha mod) was already in progress. Still I wanted to continue since we like the storyline and the progress of the other mod isn't far yet. Besides 2 mods make eachother more popular along with the anime I think.

Anyway let's get down to business shall we? We have decided to start totally clean and so we had to"clean" our team from inactive team members. Since we are all pretty new to the tools of Halflife we are looking for experienced Halflife mod workers. Who may also be able to help us out where we may get stuck.

Right now we are in real need of a new coder. We are also looking for skilled modelers and a experienced HL Mapper.

So what is this mod about? Well it will not be a copy of the anime. We have decided to keep the main characters but the Youkai (demons) will be totally new and original. We already are working on the concepts and it seems to go quite well. We mainly want to focus on a single player game. This is really hard, specially since I don't have much HL experience yet, but I am reading more tutorials every day.

What will you get in return?

You should stray away from the anime type mod. Those don't tend to get alot of attention (unless you're ESF).

How ESF is so popular still confuses me. Probably because they were one of the first to release a dbz mod.

I don't think this mod won't get it's attention. Most votes went to the anime mod and since the anime itself isn't popular yet we may be able ko keep it more original.

Once the progress is further i,m sure people will like the idea.

Well, good luck then :X

But as I remember, didn't your last mod fail because it was cel-shaded and looked too cartoony?

Why are you going to HL? HL's a bad engine, I don't care how popular it is, stick with SS. After all, BTBA is pretty much a craze right now, which shows that SS has some hope in the modding world.

Honeslty stop with the Half Life mods.... You would have a more succesfull mod is you choose a different engine

Jun 18 2004 Anchor

I don't know why you guys give such a big crap about Half-Life mods. It's not like it'd be any different on any other engine. The community would just be smaller and they'd have the same outcome. It doesn't matter if there's a lot of failed mods on one engine, it just means the team wasn't dedicated enough. If they go to an engine like UT or Quake, they'll be facing the same results.

It's not like ESF is the only successful anime mod on Moddb, anyway. There's plenty of those around the Half-Life community, since not every mod is posted on this site, anyway.

We have chosen the HL engine for many different reasons. And we were also advised by alot of people to make this switch. Serious Sam SE was a really powerful engine (way better then HL in my opinion) but it wasn't popular enough. Thanks to BTBA some people will install the game though. They really did a exellent job on the mod and used the engine well.

We will probably focus on multiplayer first. Once we have more experience with the new engine and its tools we can focus on single player. For now we want to work on a alpha multiplayer version.

We are still looking for new members. If you have experience with halflife and want to join our project PM me or use one of the links above. :)

If you want more info about the features in our mod, and what the content will really be then I can post it here if you want.

Here is some info about the first alpha concept:

Since we are new to the engine,we have decided to make a multiplayer mod first. Once we have more experience with the halflife engine, we can focus on the single player game.
The concept is quite simple for now:

- Locations in the Feudal Japan age seperate as arenas.
- 8 Playable characters
- 5 Attacks for each player model

Extra features:

Graphic boost implentation
Selectable background music

Injury System:

In Inu Yasha wounds play quite a role. If there bad, you will loose some strength, or temporary get knocked down. You can only get a wound from Melee attacks.

20 Health: You lose 1 health per 10 seconds
40 Health: You lose 1 health per 5 seconds and you get slower
60 Health: You can’t move for 3 seconds and your attacks + speed will get weaker

Only if you fully hit the player with your melee attack you can give somebody a damage of 60%. You will also lose alot of blood to keep it realistic.

Hit arms or legs: 20% damage
Hit front side: 40% damage
Hit the back: 60% damage

If you want to discuss our concept, contact us any time.

4. Curse reflection
5. Purify Arrow

Sesshoumaru

2. Poison Claw
3. Sword Slash
4. Power Balance
5. Advanced Sword Slash

These 2 characters are
still in the planning. If
you have ideas just mail us.

3. –
4. –
5. Mesmeric

Kagura

Most votes went to the anime mod and since the anime itself isn't popular yet we may be able ko keep it more original.

Anime? Origonal? You wouldn't normaly find those two words in the same sentence, let alone the same paragragh! :|

Sounds interesting, though. For an anime, at least. Good luck!

Lol, a existing anime isn't really original but we will add some twists to make it more original and not just a mod out of a anime. We start on low profile though since we have to learn th HL engine. Since I did mapping for serious sam, I decided to also do mapping for halflife.

Here is a little screen of my first try. It still needs to be expanded, add hills, shadows, flower decals at the ground etc etc.

Unfortunatly we are still in huge need for a modeler and coder. We only have the following members at the moment:

1 Concept Artist
1 Skinner
1 Modeler
1 Mapper
1 Planner
A few beta testers.

As you can see we really need support. Normally I always find people via community's or people contact me but that always takes a while. Are there any other forums/options I should consider? Help would be appreciated. :)

No we are still looking for one. That's why I asked if there are other places where I could be able to find people to join the project.
