Rocky Mod Thread

I've just returned from watching the Rock Fest on AMC, and am now pumped and hyped about Rocky. now, I'm wanting to start a fighting, more like boxing, mod. check this out:

your role in the mod is Rocky. the mod is, basically, the exact same storyline as the movie(s). you could either play on single player and go up against random boxers, until you get to the title shot(just like in real life). but, the catch is, the title shots are those of Rocky's worst opponents; Apollo Creed, Mr. T, Ivan(the Russian guy), Tommy Gunn, and whoever the other one is. also, since you'd most likely play more than 5 times and get to the title shot, add more tough boxers that were alive at the time of Rocky. there could also be a multiplayer mode, where you box against someone else online. for the maps, they'd simply be boxing rings(the ring itself, the audience, the stadium). since it'd be so easy to complete the maps, you could add special features for each ring, with each one being in a different location(the main places; America, Japan, Tokyo, Australia, etc.). as for the sounds, as realistic as can be; from player gasps when hit, to audience cheers and boos. as far as the damage system, as realistic as possible, as well; when a player is punched in the head hard, their vision is blurred for a bit, until cleared up. wherever they're hit, the reactions are counted for as would be in real life. also, a bruise would be made, blackeyes would be made, cuts, scars, etc.

anyways, if you guys think this would be a good idea, please respond. I think it'd be great idea, for there(as of my knowledge) no successful fighting/boxing mods for Half-Life(yes, Half-Life is what I'd think would be good as an engine, please state your opinions about this, too).

Didn't they make a rocky game? Could be a good mod i guess, though half life could be, heh, odd

heh, that's what I was thinking... :x I just don't know of a good game engine that could easily support the type of mod. oh, and, I believe the game was halted. I'm not sure, of course, but that's what I think.

I guess it all depends on what people would prefer more etc, first person or third person boxing. Interchangable viewpoints would be great, though with half life, the third person model could look, well, different Still, could work real well, and you'll probably make it real great then slap me in the face with a big sign saying 'ha! told you so' ^_^

Why base on a movie? Remake 4D Boxing.

I have an idea... I'll just start a mod about boxing, not Rocky. however, I need a name to use. any idea's?

You could make it after a book, like The Contender. Rags to riches, wher you'll start off as a teenager training to be a better fighter against the harshness of street life. I'd definitely play a mod like that.

you could make a new PunchOut Game, in 3d you know

lol, nothing can pay homage to Super Punchout. No boxing game has yet to beat it, as far as I'm concerned. Not even Fight Night.

so which should I go with? the teen becoming the best or the Punchout remake?

I miss Punchout... I should've never gotten rid of that SNES...

SNES = Super Nintendo or something?

Engine = Use The unreal engine (ut, ut 2003, ut 2004) is fairly easily moddable, has physices you could do a ring easily and melee would be nice like in the mod Chaotic something aww well i cant remember that much. Call it red to black. Red as in glove to black is inn colour of eye when its hit by the glove

hehe, I don't have that game... however, I could easily get it. I'd have to reformat my computer and have nothing but AIM, IRC, and of course the game. which I've been thinking of doing the past few days. anyways, the name(Red to Black), is awesome. sounds pretty pimp!

anyways, I'll start writing a design document and get to work on a site. do you know of anyone who might be able to help in any fields?

btw, cory, I've no clue what Punchout is, whereas I don't know anything about it, so I'm not going to remake it. I'll just start a new boxing mod.

heh, well, exoGaming's main idea is to host webspace. seeing how I'm a staffmember, I might be able to get some hosting. however, I might still have to pay. seeing if that is the case, I'll be more than happy to use it! that is, if you'd still be willing to let me have some...
