Yesterday was the release of the very highly-anticipated PlayStation Portable (PSP for short). Gamespot has offered a large line-up of coverage to run adjacent with this. You can find out what went up and what went down. Here's the link: Gamespot.com Are you guys going to buy this after all the news surrounding it, or are you too close to your Nintendo DS to try it out? The PSP will be the only handheld I will buy, I am just going to wait for A: When it is released in America I love that design it so sleek and cool. I wish they made a white one that was not a grand turismo version. |

I wish they made a platinum one. That'd be so awesome and so sleek Oh well. I think I can live with the dark look. I'm just worried that if I bring it to school, people will always try to steal it from me -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Yeah, some one stole my little brother's gamboy advanced sp. They make differnt colours though, I seend 'em. tThey have red, blue, your standard black, and a grand tourismo white one, which I would get if it did not have the damn grand tourismo sybol all over it |

*Holds DS* I like the DS but I want to try the PSP, see how the both compare by my standards. -- I'm the Bringer of Death, Fall to your knees and beg for mercy... Or Give me a Sandwich I'm hungry. |

It was around $185 when it was released in Japan, and it's slated to be about $200 when it arrives here, which, if you do your math, is $50 more than the DS, making it in the same ballpark price-wise. It's going to be great I don't want it to overtake the Gameboy, though -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

If if I can get access to the PSP I will try it, but I've owned every single gameboy released over here (bar the SP). I think the main advantage that the DS has over the PSP is the huge catalouge of games, since the DS can play all the old Gameboy games. |

but also remeber $50 to buy a game for it to , so that makes it $100 more! -- Grammar is my worst enemy along with flying chairs.

Dec 13 2004 Anchor | ||
Well, I don't really think the games are going to be $50. I can't really tell now, but I think the games will be more like $30-$40.Not to mention, it's the same as ending up Nintendo DS with its own game, so it'd still be around $50-$70 more. I do believe that the PSP will have games bundled with it when it's released Stateside. I've heard rumors that point to this. PSP tech > DS tech. Anyway go create a DS thread if you want to be a child. - Yeah I want one, but I really dont think Id ever use it which is a shame I suppose. Also the batterly life thing was expected, its way too small for such a powerful machine, something had to give
-- Why wont it save me? |
||
Dec 13 2004 Anchor | ||
Well, they always fix it up before a Stateside release, so hopefully they'll get rid of those errors. I also heard they had a bundle that gave a much longer battery life, but I believe it's like $50 more (also adds in a bunch of other things besides the longer battery). It looks awesome in those pictures where the kids are playing, though. The screen looks great!!!! I can't wait to play it -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Okay this is just what I have heard so dont flame me for it... the DS looks like it will have better games than the PSP but the PSP will be more compact and user friendly... just wondering if that seems like an adequate assumption. --

The second is right, compact and user freindly as they come, but PSP will have pwnage games. It will just might take longer based on what you like. If you like racing games than there will be good games right away. If you like... I dunno FPSs? Than there will be a longer wait. |

The DS has to be the worst hand held I have ever seen! I looked at it while in the game store thinking of getting one when I saw how cheesy it was and how useless it seemed with the 2 screens. The screens where more annoying than good. The psp actually is cool looking and runs better and the technology is more powerful. |

That's what I was saying... where is that post I made that says nearly the same thing...? |

i like the 2 screen setup. It will enable u to see more game viewing angles at once, which might help u to fight against enemies. edit Edited by (in order): TheRambo, TheRambo -- OMG it's teh Raaaaammmbooo!!! |

Man fuck graphics I want better gameplay than processing power, the game could be 16-bit for all I care aslong as its good thats what games are about gameplay not how good they look, that comes about 5th in the row. -- I'm the Bringer of Death, Fall to your knees and beg for mercy... Dec 13 2004 Anchor | |
nah i dun like a game that has excellent gameplay but sucky graphics or other way round. if i really wanna have fun i need a combo of both, otherwise id always be: "if onlt the graphics were better....." That would kill most of the fun for me -- OMG it's teh Raaaaammmbooo!!! |

Dec 13 2004 Anchor | |
Well I kinda over exaggerated, yes the Quality of How it looks does come into mind no doubt, but the majority of it should be how much you like the game. Take "Runescape" for example it doesn't have the best graphics but its fun and people like it thats why it has so many players. -- I'm the Bringer of Death, Fall to your knees and beg for mercy... thats a good point, but most games do not have excellent gameplay, so in general, graphics do matter. I never said there werent any games with sucky grahics but still so much fun to play. -- OMG it's teh Raaaaammmbooo!!! |
