Here's the place where you can put info about your computer. Did you empty your pockets to play Doom 3? Carve out a savings loan for Far Cry? Pawn money from your parents to get them to buy you that ATI x800 you have been begging them to get you? Put yer specs here! By the way, don't post here unless you're going to put your specs or to comment on each other's. No one wants a spammer x.x

My PC is only a 1.4GHz P4 with 512MB RAM, but I recently put together a friend's new PC, so I'll list those specs. It's a beast.

P4 3.01 GHz
512MB DDR2 RAM
128MB PCI Express x16 Radeon X300 SE
160GB Serial ATA HDD @ 7200 RPM
16x DVD-ROM
8x DVD+RW
17" LCD Flatscreen

Yeah...I love it. I wish he would stay in Europe forever so I could go to his house and play all day.

Is that the Barton 2500?

Jul 24 2004 Anchor

Yeesh... who would spend money on that Far Crap

Pentium IV 1.7 GHz
512 MB some type o' RAM
Radeon 9600 Pro
A hard drive
1 DVD drive and 1 DVD burner drive
Floppy disk dive
17" pile o horse twang fishbowl view muddler
keyboard
mouse
2 sidewinder game pads
some joystick I've had for years but never had a game to use it for

etc etc, as you can see I don't know much about the computer, like the video memory size of the 3D card, RAM type, motherboard, HD size, etc :P But I know that I need a new sound system. Right now I have the quad-speaker setup (they're tiny speakers but they make alright sound) and a subwoofer. Only the cute adorable puppy of mine chewed the wires of the rear 2 speakers so now it's just two speakers :)

 ... great name for this ****.

Jul 24 2004 Anchor

Seien, what's wrong with wanting top of the line? Not everyone is an efficiency minded power user. He wanted to buy the best, so that he would still be rather modern for awhile.

azz0r yes the Barton is quite good, you could overclock it to 3200 if so inclined.

Jul 24 2004 Anchor

So I heard, is it worth it though?

Once i get it done.

AMD XP 2500 Mobile
2 WD hard drives in raid0
ATI sapphire 9600XT
512mb Kingston Hyperx
16x DVD ROM
ABIT NF7-S Ver 2.0

And a logitech MX510

On a scale of 1-5 id give it a 3. Soon to fall to a 2 with the release of PCI express.

If you do want to overclock go with the mobile its always unlocked. So you can volt mod easy.

i would not even upgrade for a real good game... a game has to adapt to the user, not vice versa... *puuuh*
