Peter Molyneux (Lionhead Games) Receives Special Order from the Queen. Thread

Order of the British Empire given to Lionhead founder Peter Molyneux for "excellence in service" to the game industry.

The Queen of England has granted game creator and the head of Lionhead studios Peter Molyneux an Order of the British Empire for his contributions to the game industry. "It's come completely out of the blue," he reportedly said, "I never would have guessed that I'd have that kind of honor." Molyneux is credited with creating the sub-genre "god games," and his track record includes Populous, Black & White, and Fable.

I always loved this guys' games, but this is incredible, something I don't think many gamers were really expecting. Mr. Molyneux, I salute you.

A little anecdotal tidbit: his company, Lionhead Games, is co-sponsoring the modDB Golden Spanner Awards.

Hopefulyl Peter will finish The Movies soon. That's easily the game I'm anticipating from Lionhead the most.

I don't know, Armed and Dangerous 3 should be good (assuming they make it), and Black & White 2 is obviously going to RULE.

I don't know much about The Movies, other than it will put you in charge of your own filming studio where you can make actual, viewable films, a unique and interesting premise.

Regardless of your favourite game from LHS, it's pretty obvious that they have a true talent for designing and developing brilliantly innovative interactive experiences.

My favourite game from Peter himself is Dungeon Keeper. Peter's work extends further back than just Lionhead Studios. He was an old Bullfrog boy

yes, Dungeon Keeper was the shit.. If only i didn't run into troubles with EA i coulda gone through with dungeon keeper mod.. I really would love to see that game reborn..

Yeah, I loved dungen keeper, that was one of the first games I played.

Holy cow... hehehe, they've got nothing good to give OBEs to except actors and musicians and movie makers and now game makers... Well, I guess that's all that's left in the world. Sure is a hokey award though.

He truly deserves the award. And also B&W was one of the best games ever.

Anybody remembers Syndicate? One of the older bullfrog games. It was awesome as well

I really like the look of "The Movies" , maybe Rooster Teeth (developers of Strangerhood (The Sims) & Red vs. Blue (Halo) machinima series) will latch onto the idea, who knows what they could achieve with it! Well done Peter for recieving the OBE! *Claps*
