So, it seems like all my new posts constantly lose formatting at various times.

This is a link to my latest bit of news that just got to the front page.
Moddb.com

When I made this all of the text was centred and bold and spaced the way I want it. Now it has little to know formatting, and all the sizing, bold, etc. is gone too.

This has happened with many other news posts I have made.

I write it, format it, get it how I want, then when I click save it removes all the formatting, and turns it into 1 blob of text. which means I have to go back and format it all over again.

Which is a bit annoying..

Anyone else experience this, is it a known issue, is there a solution, or am I doing something wrong?

Your news article has been edited/curated by the site staff for the feature on the front page as it was all written in huge, bold headlines - something that is unfortunately quite unacceptable for the front page.

For your article to be approved for the front page, to cut it short, it has to have
- no excessive formatting (everything bold, headlined, underlined, or italicised etc);
- centered images and videos (560px and thumbnails centered, 600px images/videos don't have to be centered; images floating to the left/right side of the text are exceptions in this case)
- justified text (not centered text)
- headlined text that can be either justified (to the left) or centered (as long as the whole article is not fully written in headlines)
- a sufficient amount of media and textual content (the main requirement)

Important single sentences (warnings, quotes, notes) can be bold/italic/whatever but not the full text of the article.
Also lists should be normally at the left side and you can use UL/OL and LI html tags to format them properly.

So if you wish to revert back to your formatting, your article may also lose its place on the front page and therefore new visitors coming from there (and thus all future articles of yours can be archived as well if you would like for your news to not be featured yet keep your own formatting of it). Your article is totally suitable for the frontpage but it requires formatting that follows the site standards.

This is a common issue with the editor, simply write your post in notepad and paste it into the editor, this ensures you have no text formatting comming over from word, or another website.

Once in the editor, ensure you only click once on a function, If you click twice, the style code will double up and cause massive headaches.

The good news is the editors, getting a refurb, Keep an eye out on our v5 feedback thread for updates.

Right ok...

It makes no mention of that on the 'making the most' thread.

I also find it a bit odd that that thread makes a lot of using your formatting, using white space, taking the time to lay out your news in a clear and easy to digest format, then all that hard work is silently undone... because it's a bit more than 5 minutes work.

I don't really know why smaller harder to read writing is better, but if that is the policy, I know now what restrictions I am under.

Thanks for the quick response.

It is the same exact normal, default font size as in other news articles as you can see.

Also visitors of your news can zoom in and enlarge the text size to their own liking, there is no need for making it even bigger (except important sentences/lines).

You are welcome and sorry if the site standards feel too much like unnecessary constraints and restrictions - this is the default font size/style for all articles.

Yeah, hehe I guess I just have the exact same reaction to the news posts here, a deep in take of breath and then trying to dig through the text to see if the news content interests me. :)

I guess at the end of the day it is a personal preference thing. :)

I think it would be good to include this information in the 'make the most of' article (or one of the articles that are accessed from the editing screens, etc.).
I spent quite a bit of time reading these to try and fathom why my work to make things unique, different and stand out was just seemingly deleted (or in the past not authorised) even though, as far as I could tell, I was meeting the requirements of authorisation. (Relevance, media content, etc.)

It was very frustrating, and it made me feel like putting in the effort was a complete waste of time.

I now know it was because there are rules that I couldn't find mention of! :D

I do enjoy the connectivity and access that the site gives to my favourite games, mods and projects though.
