Reading on the front page, I see a lot of news that appears and I don't want to see it. e.g. mods that don't concern me. I think that there should be an option of what news you see - by game and also see modDB.com news automatically. So, you choose which game mods' news you see.

Sounds like a great idea. I really don't care about the Half-Life infested news.

how bout something, like you would get modDB info all the time but the mod information you get would like be the mods you have modwatched only

Yea, I agree that it might defeat the purpose of news if it's only for Mod Watched mods (that sounded weird). But, not if the games are filtered.

i think its better the way it is, that way everyone gets equal share of the news page, no matter what game they are modding

I do believe their should be a checklist on your profile of every game (not modifications) and then you untick what news you dont want to see, and then the items not ticked wont appear in your news.

Yes exactly what azz0r said is what I was thinking. Not just watched mods.

but then what's the point, you would miss out on something which might make you interested in the game

i can kind of see the point in narrowing down what you see, like this?:

  • If the news isn't associated with a mod, you see it regardless.
  • The game on the mod is checked, if you choose not to view updates from that game you don't see it.

I suppose then it could also narrow down things like help wanted...

i just think its censoring news from other games... just because u dont think that there is a mod u want to play on a certain system doesnt mean that there wont be... and then u would miss it, and more importantly, the mod team would miss having that person notice what they did, just becuase that person wasnt using the game that they were currently interested in

You miss the point entirely, I dont own SOF2 and dont give a crap about any modifications that use that engine, so why would I want to see news on it? If i wanted to see news on the fly about it Id go switch it on in my profile; Its all about having the option to custimize the sites around your needs.

It would only block news about mods for that game, since just posting a news item you cannot associate it with that game. You would still (in azz0rs case) get news about SoF2 which may interest him (nice screenies etc.) but he wouldn't get mod news.

Yea. And say you did want to see all games, then you wouldn't put the filter option on.

my point is that there might be a sof2 mod that is so absolutely kickass that the mod itself is worth going out and getting the game... just because u dont have the game doesnt mean that there wont be anything that might interest u enuf in that game to have u go out and get it
