I am new its true, and i cant find any topics about mods for the games i play and host. Every topic has the word mod in it, but nothing game specific. I am learning how to create far cry maps with the sandbox editor, so i guess im looking for people that no there stuff. What game is everyone modding? Is this a strickly half life mod forum? Is there an index of topics? some way to sort through the thousands of unerased threads? someone HELP!!!!!!!! --

Try the search engine, the mod listings, or simply go to the game topsites. It only takes common sense. |

ModDB is a forum for all mods on all engines. HL2 is the preferred engine of most modders because its really popular, and is a really powerful platform for mods. A good active farcry community - if your looking for one - would be over at Crymod.com Edited by: MajorPest |

It's actually the 'source' engine. |

Dude the guy is new, he wouldn't know source if it was mentioned. So putting it as half life 2 would obviously make alot more sense than anything else. |

Hard as hell to map for, i've tried... HL/Quake based games ( HL2, Call of Duty, Max Payne, etc..) are easier to map for with the WorldCraft editor... Edited by: Stallion001 |

Hahhahahahahahha Unreal mapping = No leaks Dont see how that equates to "harder"... Oh, and despite the fact that the static meshe browser, animation browser, texture browser , and sound browser are all integrated directly into the map editor in a simple interace But i guess if it was the first time you'd touched it , it might seem freaky...maybe Still, unreal owns. |

I had not even got to the point of compiling, hell i didnt even get to the point of making one single brush... This was Unreal Tournament 2003 btw... |

It's a completely different style of mapping, carving rather than brush creation. It's very hard for someone used to worldcraft/hammer/bsp/quark etc to get used to. -- Defeat in Detail 2 - Standalone RTS Game |

Wow, some one is acting like he's been here longer than 5 days... Seriously though, this is THE mod site, if there's a moddable game it's listed here, if it's not listed contact the adins and they'll put it up. Need tutorials? There are plenty here. Can't find what you're looking for by way of tutorial (on site or on google)? Ask and people will give you links. This is the best site for anything mod related you will find. |

Discriminating against someone based on their join date? Thats mature. |

Acting like a bigshot when your not (what BMW was doing) is not good. I wasn't discriminating against him, I was just pointing out how he was acting like he was a a hotshot when he asked similer questions the day he joined, and his introductory post in and of itself was a mistake. Another thing I don't like is when people go around accusing people of being diriminant when they do not even know them, thus them selves discriminating. |
