Does anybody know of a 2D game maker? And no I'm not using Game Maker, I tried that, if there's any good ones out there, I'd like to have the URL to download, and what it can do.

i hope you realize you have to actually make the game. There is nothing that just creates games for you.
But you could try Torque Game Builder...

What don't you like about Game Maker?

lol, i've seen RPG maker, we have 2 ideas for games, a Medieval game and a shooter, i guess we will be downloading 2 engines. I have a question, have u seen the Cube Engine? i see its 3D, guns are there, but its scripting, is it some special scripting or normal scripting? (i say special because i have seen some games run a different style of scripting because how the engine works.)

well ive messed about allloooot with rpg maker vx created a few sprites art work but i gave up lost patience (i had no team or nothing so no help :) ) and ive seen some of the scripting its understandable and scripting tends to be with costumizing near enough the whole gameplay some people have already done some scripting like ( i think its called this ) the tanaka side battle system and stuff but i guess it wolud be slightly eaiser since its 2d heh although i cant really say that cause i havent really seen much of 3d scripting XD if you have any q's about rpg maker just pm or something il try my best if you do ;)

you could do a 2d game in torque or quake 1/2/3 engine. Someone made a top-down 2d mech shooter out of Quake 1. Also a top-down space shooter.

Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com
It's like Source v0.9, only... better!
Play Paintball for Doom 3!: d3server.fuzzylogicinc.com
Doom 3 Paintball to the Max!

Hmm... if me and my friends can learn scripting, we could use Quake, nobody hates the graphics (excluding trolls) nobody hates the guns (excluding PETA because guns are used to kill animals) then again, we will be recreating the guns and playermodels, but meh, people should still love it.

You can find scripts for RPG Maker XP/VX very easly, I prefer RPG Maker XP, because you have more choice with Scripts and Events.

If you don't know what you are talking about is because you don't search first the engine, I've found a script where you can do a FPS on RPG Maker XP, the mapping is easy and the sprites isn't very hard too...

Search first, talk after.

Read what i said again, if you still don't understand, here's what i mean: Why does everyone like RPG Maker? I want a game that runs on First Person, RPG maker can't make games in first person so i can't use that engine.

What do you mean crappy? Define it, some kinds of crappy aren't exactly crappy.

look it up on youtube while your at it. only thing you have is a map editor. for example, the timesplitters future perfect map editor (yes, a map editor on the ps2 :p) is more advanced that the piece of crap they call fps creator
