Hey guys i decided today I want a name for the ModDB PHP/SQL engine and i'm not sure what to call it. I cannot call it the modDB engine or mDB forums anymore, cos i mean i use this engine on every page i code and my new site picura will be running the moddb engine. So far my best idea is runDB, but i want something original. So yeah what would you call this sites engine? It doesn't have to be a word it can be made up -- Scott Reismanis |

i quite like 'INgine' from frostah, since it sorta combines INtense! with engine (not sure if that was deliberate) -- Scott Reismanis |

No, I stole it from XnGine, the Bethesda graphics engine which powered my favourite game; Daggerfall. Replaced the Xn with IN. --

not bad, good suggestions all round. and i'm not certain this engine will go public. i'm presently working on v2.1 of the engine. the aim is to simplify it, cos its pretty confusing at present let me assure you -- Scott Reismanis |

Charge people for commercial licenses, Scotty. The "unnamed" modDB engine is real pro, people might use it for something commercial and make a profit off your hard work without you earning a commission :o --

I like the name Database for the engine. It's got that nice, catchy name for it. I wish I could help you come up with better names, though. Good luck with it -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

hes 21... I am INtense's stalker... and no it dosent take eons to learn, just a few years of dedicated work. @Frosty: I don't think people will go that crazy over it, not to say that his work is not desireable, but I just couldn't imagine someone coming onto moddb and stealing the ideas and junk I think thats a little paranoid... then again. I guess anything could happen --

i don't mind too much about showing the moddb engine. to be honest it wouldn't be very good for people cos its not really commented etc, so they'd be better off using existing site engines. but yeah i just wanted to name it, and make a website descibing it. oh and it took about 4 months to code modDB v2 engine from scratch. if i worked on it full time, it prolly take about 2 months, so its not too bad given you know what your doing -- Scott Reismanis |
