My variation of ModDB Layout Thread

Heya... I wasn't sure should I put it up here, or in "Complaints and Suggestions" forum - I think it should be here. Anyways, here's my small variation on Mod Database layout. It was inspired by the incoming bright and white looking layout from Intense. I didn't make all of the sections on the left and right, because I didn't feel tempted to do so, actually. Do you feel that ModDb could look like this? Lol.

Seems that there are some problems with server, plus the image is very big... so check it out at Sonyx.eu.org

Sure it does... I didn't even think about my one being used, actually. I'm glad you liked the variation, tho.

It doesn't look bad. I think the main nav buttons on the top are too large though, and I would like the side frames a lot more if the borders were a bit more defined. Nice work though.

Hmm... I guess I like it, but I like the current color scheme even better, but I think a black color scheme would be even better.

There's not much I have to complain about, I significantly prefer this layout to be honest. One thing I would change now that we're on topic is the random mod titles - you should be able to click on the images themseles and head to the mod page - not have to click on the link to the right of it.

things are also a bit bulky

true, that happened to me a lot when i first visited moddb :/

It doesn't look resolution friendly... not for 800 x 600 and not for 1024 x 768... as for the colors, it looks a little *too* plain... I'm also not too keen on the font of the navigation buttons...

... it's a good design though, but with this site, "if it is not broke, don't fix it." ...Know what I'm saying?

I don't like it. Of course, I don't like any of the white or light gray themed ones at all

Psychomaze: Yeah.. it turned out a bit too big, the aimed resolution was 1024x768 but looks like I did something wrong, heh. I must tell you that I'm also not satisfied with the navigation buttons (they don't fit the "atmosphere" or the feeling), but I couldn't think of anything better at the moment....

I also think that the current layout is great, because I like the darks very much as you all do.. plus it gives a sort of atmosphere, doesn't it? Btw.. Maybe I'll think of another moddb variation, this time better and darker. Will show if anything will be done.

Did you do it? It reminds of Netscape. I think it is great, however classic is classic.
