How big are your mods? How big mod is a big mod?

My mod unpacked takes 436MB including all resources. It takes 199MB without highres textures(it is playable without them).

The average size of a Quake mod of mine unpacked and ready to go is 40mb

And the average size of a Quake mod of mine during development is 200mb

And as for my Doom development, it's 7mb-ish usually

mod sizes differ but most run up in the hundreds of megs for things pass '98.

Yeah, before I upgraded form 98 (4 years ago), I could only get up to mods about 150 MB before processor crashed. Since moving to a Pentium processor, I have run QIII mods up to 1.9 GB and Q1 mods up to 400MB.
I love XP by the way, it's only about $140 for the license.

It's too funny that the earliest I can go for my birth year is 1971. I was born in 1967, I guess I'm too old for even the extreme edge of this envelope.

My Kreml 3D folder is around 50 mb right now, after some cleaning (I deleted old graphic files and so), but the game itself won't be bigger than 5 mb :)

This is one of the reasons I don't download many mods until I know they're really good ^_^ Dial up 56k connection, and no availability for a faster connection :(

David Hunter 1 is 4 packages of 600 megs, compressed into 200 meg installers and archives - it's probably the largest Q3A mod out there other than some SERIOUS total conversions.

I'm expecting David Hunter 3 to very easily reach the four, or even five gig range, even when compressed significantly. It's a resource hog.

mainly because they used non-resized direct screen captures from TV for attack icons for each character

wwquake is 120 mb with development shite

and 30 mb without :P
