you should prolly learn how to model or code or something before you do that. Like right now, I'm learning C++ and then I'll work on some simple mods on my own before i do something like that. -- THE modDB Delawarian Me ---> :de::paranoid: <--- Ronald McDonald |

I would like to point out 3 things 1) Mods (usually) take a long time to make, so if you dont have the patients or time to learn a modding skill perhapes making mods arent for you. |

Well what do you wanna do so we can point you in the right direction. I did some mapping back in the late 90s so I might remember some stuff. I can also point you in the right direction for coding. You simply *MUST* learn to do something before starting to mod in a group. -- THE modDB Delawarian Me ---> :de::paranoid: <--- Ronald McDonald |

Noone's gonna want to join your team unless if you're very specific about what it's gonna be like. if you want to do some mapping, i think modern mappers use woldcraft, downloadable from planet halflife -- THE modDB Delawarian Me ---> :de::paranoid: <--- Ronald McDonald |

ok i would talk to my team about the mod and i would come back to you ok. |

modern mappers use wc? it's been hammer for awhile now. it's better to learn a skill (modelign, mapping, coding, sound, writing, PR, concept etc) and join a mod, then start one if your completely new at it. --

I didn't know.. I don't keep up on it much anymore.. but I thought hammer was only beta? worldcraft was what I used back in my day -- THE modDB Delawarian Me ---> :de::paranoid: <--- Ronald McDonald |

cs ripoff and it only makes things worse having bigger maps (maybe not for 1337 mappers ) since it increases r_speeds. this is really sad. --

yeah no offense but anyone with skill would be instantly be turned away, i mean its hard enough for good projects around here to find people. You also have to make sure you will stay interested in your mod believe me this is not an easy task. Also if you are leading the project you have to have strong leadership skills which from your previous posts i can see that you are lacking in this area. I sugest that you spend some more time developing your ideas and then present them. |

Are you familiar with proof reading? If not there is always the edit button which I know you know how to use. |

Okay KOOL, let me try and explain this to you. STEP 1: Do you have some computer-related skill? Creating 3D stuff, Creating Logos or 2D stuff, Web Design, Coding, SOund, Writing, anything? STEP 2: THink of an original idea STEP 3: THink of what game you want to make the mod for. STEP 4: Tell us what kinds of jobs you need. STEP 5: Write up a design document (THere's a very good 'How to Start a Mod' article around here somewhere.) STEP 6: Create a Website STEP 7: Start Working! |

First off, I don't know if english is your first language or not (I hope not), but I think slightly better structured sentences with less spelling errors would help a lot. I mean, it's kind of hard to get people interested if they have to first figure out what you wrote, especially with your last post. Then pretty much just follow EvilFish's outline there. The main problem you will run into is that this sounds like a CS ripoff, as Altharion pointed out, and if there is something else to the mod, you seem to not want to share. Trust me, no one here will steal your super amazing idea... matter of fact, I think everyone has at least 4 of their own. So if you want to get people interested, let people in on the whole idea, not just enough to make it seem like a CS clone. And if that is all that it is, your "idea" probably won't get the welcome you may have expected, since a CS clone is a big no-no here. -- "I'm the Robenator. Could some one make me a mod that is single player. I want it to be about a CIA agent name James Ryan. His mission to take down a terrorest leader bend on taking over the world. You use everything from silenced weapons to Mini-Guns. If you want to make this mod for me plz tell me.." To the slow ones, this isn't my idea, it's quoted from here. Current project: |

STEP 8: write down hooked on phonics STEP 9: beat yourself over the head with it until you can think up a original idea or get a concussion STEP 10: once idea is written down and implemented into some sort of database create your .plan and publically release it to civilized heart warmed people like me.. STEP 11: if you quit i will hunt you down.. (Idle Threat) |

Yeah, at least be mores specific. I mean, whoever your team members are clearly don't realize what is the right thing to do and what is the wrong thing to do with mods. Why play your silly mod when they can go play CS instead, which would be a million times better? Come up with an idea of your own, or at least stick with the theme. Bring up some really interesting ideas, like have it CIA vs. FBI or something like that -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |
