Hi all - is it just me or does it not make an enormous amount of sense to have two completely different sets of forums with shared characteristics.

I don't really think we need for example, a 'General Discussion' forum in both places, nor do we need 'PC Gaming' in both either, since the topics are going to essentially be the same. Perhaps an increased level of merging would be in order?

Good point. I think that however, the forum here to some degree might attract people to the site, and since it's so new, then why not? Maybe after the community grows i could see something like that, but I think right now, this site needs all the reasons for people to come here it can get.

It's not as if AddonDB wouldn't have forums - it'd just share the generic ones with ModDB instead. It's like writing two essays on the same subject for a single assignment - totally unnecessary ;)

But if it attracts people to the site then i think it could serve a small purpose lol. But you are right. Maybe some people can discuss it here and some on moddb :P

I still don't understand what small purpose it has. Sharing it with ModDB instantly grants it a larger userbase and there wouldn't *be* any less attraction to the site because of it - it's still the same forum.

well they have the same topics subject matter thingies. But they aren't the same exactly =P. Some of the threads are different. Therefore people must come here instead of moddb to look at something thats not so unique but they get curious lol :) muahahah maybe your right lol. I honestly don't know. Would a person go to read both DB bars? perhaps. Probably not so with the what are you listening to thing though. I think some of the threads attract interest even if they are the same, but most probably don't.

Its a completely separate site though.
Guess we will see :S, im not sure going to 2 sites to see the same forums is any benefit.

i'd prefer it seperate. moddb is full of tools, and addondb is full of nuts. let's keep it that way.
