Get a big fat book on how to program and if you want to program games i hope yer good at math or you could just be a modeler and help out modeling for mods etc.. since that aint to hard -- Nothing. |

Do you know how to use 3ds max or program c++? If not you have a long way to go, you can't make anything with tools if you don't know how to use them. Also many games/mods take work from many people and lots of time. Don't expect results over night. Just some advice. |

I agree. You "have" C++....well so do I.....coded into programs I play. I don't have the first clue what to do with it myself. Also, games are just "made". It takes plenty of effort and just from you - it is a team game. It is nice to have programs and tools, but don't think you can just jump in the ring and box. |

Use Darkbasic, Blitzbasic or Gamemaker. That'lll help. -- < insert subject games here >

The more expensive GameStudio A6 is a very popular choice too, but far more expensive. On the plus-side, it has many advanced features like physics and such. If I were you though, I'd go with Cheapy's recommendation of DarkBasic. --

You gotta learn how to use those programs and most likely you need to get some more programs than that, like sound editor... what's a game without sounds? crap. And it's possible to do everything just by yourself. You can jump in the ring and box, if you learn quickly... |

It really doesn't matter how fast you learn because if you want a top quality conversion then you are going to have to "quickly learn" how to create models, animate them, skin them, create maps, code scrips, create the entire mod, make a webpage, so sound effects, all the things you need to make a full mod. It really isnt worth the work because it would take you six years to finish off the entire thing by yourself. |
