Hey. I used game maker for a while before it DRMed out on me. For as much stick as that program gets, it was a great tool imo. I'm thinking of trying Love game engine, but I wanted to know if anyone has tried it and what they think of it before I go and learn Lua. Thanks. |

Hey SabreXT, I have not tried the Love game engine however I have heard good things about it. Very simple to make a game with it from what I understand. Edited by: HeadClot |

Wow, I had never heard of or seen this love engine, but it looks quite promising. However, personally I'd recommend working on developing an engine from the bottom up. This ensures that the engine created meets the specifications of your product, plus the experience and struggle that building an engine brings is un-replaceable and can make you quite an asset as a programmer. -Gabriel @ Prototype Studios |

Yes. Do it. Lua is currently one of the better languages to pick up for modding and game development. I'm just being supportive because it's been two years since I started peeking that way. But I'm too BDSM for such a language. Well, back to trying to read Assembly, *hnnrgg* |

Oh yeah then for sure go with an existing engine, it'll facilitate everything. Good luck on your endeavors. |

Have you tried Unity3D? It now has really easy to use 2D mechanics. It can also easily make 3D games. You can program in C#, Javascript, or Boo. |

It's a good engine and Lua is generally a good language to use. Go for it. |

Has anyone used any engines designed to make 2D JRPGS? |
