IP Request Thread

I wasn't sure where to post this; I guess this is the most appropriate forum.

As far as I know, the "dot system" used by this site was created by Intense (or someone else high up in modDB?). So my question is, would whoever created it have any objections to it - or a simmilar system - being implemented in another in-house community forum that is currently under development?

i object! jp, im fine with it, nothing really wrong with it, there is even a thread somewhere where you can posts your own "dots" how you think they should be in v2!

normal users wont have dots in v2

What system? Do you mean a forum made by yourself?

Personally I was tempted to code in dots to, but I went for small pretty numbers

I'm simply referring to the system of having small icons representing the authority of a user wherever their name is printed, whatever those icons may be. I'm asking because I've never actually seen it used elsewhere, so I thought that before implementing a similar system in a forum of my own I should ask permission first.

I am sure that as long as it does not mirror this system exactly INtense won't mind too much. He will have to be consulted though, as he owns the site.

i wouldn't rip it off exactly though.

maybe have 5 dots or whatever. or only threee.

but 4 dot system should only be for moddb 1.0-1.5

actually we should remove them and replace them with a clikable link to someone's .wav so when you want to hear what the person sounds like you clik their "thing" and it plays there private uploaded .wav ! w00000

i think they were plannning on hosting files on v2, but im not sure if that is actually going through :o

what would be really cool is for example i was running a server.. and i wanted some ppl here to play there was a server box section.. and it checks on a specified external ip to see if whatever games data is being used through that port.. like gameholic.com or whatever.. so whenever anyuone wanted to play on a server with that mod.. there would be a site with refreshing results right on the mod profile! wooo

uhmmm, ok.

but it would also be really cool if you went back and made your own system:

bannana = normal use
orange = moderator
apple = admin
grape = creator

that would just be.. like.. NOT PROFESSIONAL

Well INtense was going to use Deviantarts system for v2, but decided it was copying so copying the dot system might not be something he approves of.

I would have PMed Intense directly but I wasn't sure if he 'invented' the system.

1. I probably shouldn't have referred to it as the 'dot'-system, I'm just talking about visually representing a user's rank by appending a small icon to their name, whether it be dots, bananas or tellytubbies!
2. The site isn't in any way related to modDB or mods... hell... it isn't really related to games much at all.
