I'm sat next to someone, watching her type "google" and "yahoo" into IE's address bar in order to use MSN Search to get a link to the actual search engines.

...

Help?

Some people don't understand computers, not their fault. I'm sure I'd make stupid mistakes doing something I have no idea about, like skating.

Jackson, I go to google, type msn search, and use that whenever I need to use msn search, if I remember their current domain is like beta.search.msn.com , which I can't remember anyways :O

Feb 23 2005 Anchor

Yeah, I have to do that whenever there is no address bar available. This is usually the case at library computers, when it mysteriously disappears.

if you wanna search from address bar

type

A9.com(whatever you want to search here, spaces and all, no () of course)

Feb 24 2005 Anchor

@ spector - I think he means LCD screens, which don't necessarily fit into the "flat panel plasma screens"

Nope, plasma mostly pertains to televisions rather than computer monitors.

We have old as Celeron's running at around 500MHz in some of our computer rooms. Art rooms have 2.4GHz Celerons with 1GB ram and Geforce FX 5600XT's though.

My school recently went on a big upgrade spree during our network outage, so we now have 800mHz minimum, 256mb RAM minimum, XP Pro, but for some inexplicable reason the machines are stuck at 800x600. Since I'm used to the screen real-estate of a 1600x1200 19" monitor, this is a bit of a drop.

stress: the confusion created when ones mind overrides the basic desire to choke the living sh|t out of some arse hole who desperately needs it

when overclocking older computers i came up with this; cyrix chips are really easy 2 overclock but dont take the heat too well, AMD chips are just a little bit harder and do take the heat, Intel chips dont even bother, and potato chips u eat them!

are school has about 25-30 1995 compaqs I would say slower than 333Mhz... and our tech class has 16 dell's P4 2.6GHz 500MhzFSB 512ram and 40gb hd's, may not be much but its one hell of an upgrade...

Well, that's more of a silly habit than an idiotic move. My mother likes to double-click on everything, even if it is a Submit button or a hyperlink. She also likes to wait until the entire page loads fully before doing anything, but I think that's alright to do in my book. Sometimes you can screw up when you don't do that.
