Dire is currently running a small band contest. This contest is for small Bands (or Digital Music composers) that need to get their names known. They can either send in a custom song or an already recorded song that sports a theme that they think will suit Dire. Anyone with musical Talent and a way to put it into Mp3 form can enter. Come check it out at: Signing up is very easy. All you have to do is enter your E-mail address. You will be emailed a username and password and redirected to the login page. Once you login, you can upload your .Mp3 and .txt file. Come check it out or Voice your comments here, Thanks --

Haha, you think people can get their name known through a simple known? There are hundreds of mods out there, and a lot of them have bands. It doesn't mean they'll become well-known or anything. People will be too busy blasting people's heads off rather than paying attention to the music. Just thought I'd put my two cents in -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Local bands are best promoted in your local scene. But good luck, you should also check out cubeengine.com they have free music i think and lots of composors. |

Wow. Shameful, shameful plugging. Good job -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

In gaming and theatre, music is a tool to set the moment, foreshadow an event or persuade the player to act in relation to the music. The "band" will only become known if their name is anounced before the song plays or suddenly eveyone gets the urge to read the credits. Although, even seeing the name will not necessarily trigger anything. |

Exactly. But this is a mod, not a Triple A game. lol. I haven't met one person who has had the urge to read any kind of credits. Hell, no one even stays for movie credits, so why stay for video game credits. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Course you guys have a point, but if you forget, many people visit the actual mod sites and we will make sure to keep their name/site link on the main page. Also, it will play at least once in most of Dire's Trailers and have the band name (special thanks, ETC) before the actual trailer starts. There are plenty of ways to let people know, just gotta use the muscle in your head. --
