How to create a high res mod? | Locked | |

I've never seen this question before, so how do modders make a high resolution or texture mod? Draw all the textures by themself? |

Basicly the modders will just replace all the textures and then overite the low-res ones to give you a high-resolution mod. You can't make textures high-res from low-res it's almost impossible as you will loose a lot of quality so it would be lower quality not higher. Hope that helps you :p. |

Ah okay, thanks for the answer. But how make them high-res textures? It would be impossible to draw all the textures by themself, i think. Or am i wrong? |

How is it impossibly to make textures lol. They make them all themselfs like i just said in my above post. They can either make them by taking photos of realife areas brick walls etc or you can use them off online websites such as CG textures and things. There is many ways to make new textures and the way your saying you keep thinking they magically make them hi-res in a application but they make them from scratch. |

Good example of this is to search up jDoom, and look for the High-res modification for Doom 2. Really worth while in my opinion. But it's also a great example. -- Grenades... are your friends. |

errr yes, people paint textures and use photo references, mixing the two = textures. -- ===================Signature====================== |

I heard if you load up a texture in MS Paint and hold the power button on your PC for 6 seconds it'll make a texture high res. |

But this is a forum post not an official tutorial. Ergo, Where and how do I move my hand to the power button and which way is better to open MSpaint. Via my computer or the start menu. Edited by: AcidBarrel |

I'll get on making a video tutorial Duke don't worry... As for moving your hand. Just have your cerebrum use your nervous system to trigger your muscle contractions; thats usually the way to go. To open MSPaint fastest goto the start menu, click run, and type mspaint. In all seriousness: (gotta say something useful after being so unhelpful) Edited by: NGS616 |

I'm a little concerned about how much time and effort is being spent on spreading such misinformation! How can you sleep at night saying that clicking Start Menu->Run is a fast method, when it's obvious that winkey+R is much faster! -- "lets say Portal is a puzzle game, so its a rehash of Tetris" |

Don't tell me you didn't realize that after ngs616 first post ? Well since many members in this forum can't take a question seriously, i will give it my version As said earlier, a bigger resolution of the image = more detail, and scaling a low res texture up doesn't make it better. You probably want to use adobe photoshop instead of mspaint, but i would not refuse that it is possible to make a texture in mspaint. Using real life photos and editing them, can be easiere than starting from scratch - but it depends on the cases If you want to make a wall or such, starting off by scratch can be easier than a photo , where a nature image is easere by a photo than drawing it. However i will strongly recommend that you look at Moddb.com |
