hey,
here is my latest weapon the XM8 with some Raytrace test renders hope you like them :) Heavy and normal version

hmm, you must be using mental ray... correct? try tweaking the antialiasing a little or i recommend you getting a better plugin

Not bad, it looks like an XM8 and ntohing else :P

May want to make the drum clip rounder though

I am using the Raytrace material from Max, no plugins, but I accidnelty added a Gradient Ramp to that to get hte blur type effect in the reflecition. I have been able to get the bump map working iwth it, but that results in no reflection...

May want to make the drum clip rounder though


thats the next tweak I will do to it, Ill just make the drum clip rounder, and hten I get to optimize *My Favorite thing*..... jj

well if your not using any plugin at all, not even Mental Ray, which actually comes with the new 3ds max if thats what your using, i recommend you at least use it or use some kind of plugin.

Im using 3d studio max 5.1 ... I need to make it render with Brazil!

yes I have brazil, but I ddidn't use it for these renders, as I said they were test renders to see how they turned out :)

well it depends what you are rendering.... i agree though, dont use raytracing for mirroring effects, use brazil chrome, as it is far more advanced and the environment maps look far more organic, and brazil is HDR compatible!!!!

Funny, BC uses raytraces himself, he's trying to upstage you. Don't listen to him, move on.

that pistol is so nice.. how did you get the handle to be so curvy? I'm still making handles by connecting two splines and then surfacing them
