Does anybody have any ideas or suggestions? I have an old mod installed (Stargate Empire at War) I had it installed on a laptop about 2 or 3 years ago and it worked as good to b expected. But now; when I try to play this the galactic conquest screen lags like crazy. FRAPS shows 1 FPS at times. I'm running windows 7. quad core i5 3.7 GHZ with 8GB RAM and a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970. I've tried pretty much every variation of video setting. I even tried changing the affinity to use only 1 or processors. Most recently I've uninstalled the game and all mods. But if I run a galactic conquest map with more than 50 or so planets the game runs at -3 FPS... I'm getting so discouraged over here. I know it's not a monitor refresh rate issue (mostly cause I've literally tried pretty much every option available to change in the video menu) Please somebody help me, I have such a craving to play this game.

Hello,

Incredibly sorry for a late reply to your issue. Have you checked if your computer is functioning correctly? I mean the file fragmentation status and if it is not overheating. It sounds like an issue related to PC maintenance.

Are you using HDD or SSD disk drives?

You could try to make the.exe LAA, to fully utilize those 8 GB of RAM you have. But it's a old game, and it's engine could be simply not able to cope with what that mod does (massive space battles are laggy as hell if you up the "<Space_Tactical_Unit_Cap>" limit).
But if you have lags everywhere, even on galactic map, then there's something wrong.

I'd rather a late reply over no reply,

My space/land battles surprisingly work quite well. Hardly any lag in them. I'm using an HDD with about 200GB of free space out of 650GB. I did a de-frag fairly recent (within past 2 weeks) I'll do a disk check to see if something crazy has happened though I doubt it. Temps have my GPU running around 48-52C and my CPU is hovering in the ball park of 39C this is when I run a bench mark with Heaven for 15 mins.
