RPG's...KOTOR is still pretty good. I'm onto my second time through :D

But for top down turn based (I'm assuming that's what you meant )...well I guess Advance Wars and Fire Emblem for the Gameboy Advance are alright.

There are no more original ideas. You just have to hope your ripoff is better than everyone elses.

Civ 4 is perhaps one of the best turn based games on the PC right now. Give that one a try. It's addictive trying to conquer the whole world. :)

If you liked Fallout, I recommend checking out Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura. It plays a lot like Fallout, but on a much more massive scale.

WoW isn't turn-based.

World of Warcraft ALSO isn't an RPG.

It's a level grinding simulator.

The original Age of Wonders was great! Not an RPG as such though....

The Tales series from Namco, they're pretty good.

Tales of Destiny was awesome. I want to play Tales of Symphonia but I don't have gamecube :S

If you liked Fallout, play Baldurs Gate 2 and the expansion. They're turn-based.

*Oops, sorry with the mistake :S*

Tales of Phantasia is available for the SNES and Game Boy Advance, not the Gamecube. However, if you ever do get one, Tales of Symphonia is perhaps one of the best RPGs available for the system (and a hallmark for the series itself).

And I was going to mention Baldur's Gate prior in my other post, but I remembered he wanted a turn-based game, so I removed it. ;(

EDIT: Oh hey, I just remembered one. This is a turn-based tactical MMORPG, Dofus: Fileplanet.com

Anachronox is probably one of the best Final Fantasy-styled RPGs around. It isn't as free roaming as Fallout, but it does have roughly turn based combat and a fantastic story.

If you go the Final Fantasy route, I highly recommend you pick up something before 7. That game is ludicriously overhyped, which started a downward slide for the following ones.

Xenosaga and Chrono Trigger are both pretty awesome RPGs as well, though they are real-time turn based, as opposed to just one move, then the next move, then the next, etc.
