What do you mean "Valve's back catalog currently available on Steam?"
º All the games currently on Steam except the CS:S Beta.

Should I pre-load Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike Source?
º The short answer is if you want to. Pre-loading allows you to download the files in encrypted format. You will have access to the games the moment they are released. If you purchase a Steam package, then you will need to download the files via Steam.

When can I pre-order?
º To Be Announced

How much do these packages cost?
º The prices have not been announced. As soon as the prices are released, we will post them here.

Will I need a credit card to make my purchase from Steam?
º Yes - Visa or MasterCard Accepted

I have an ATi Coupon. What games will I get?
º The Bronze Package which includes Half-Life 2 and Counter-Strike Source.
º Valve says that this will be upgradeable to silver or gold for a lower price than a straight purchase. More information once we get it.

When will I be able to play my games?
º Counter-Strike: Source will be unlocked next week. This means you can play the full version of CS:S within another week!
º Half-Life 2 will be unlocked, the moment it is "released" - which means the minute it is available on store shelves.
º Day of Defeat: Source and Half-Life 1: Source do not have release dates yet.

If I purchase a package through Steam, will Valve mail me the game on CD or DVD format?
º No

Does Half-Life 2 have a multi-player option?

ouch, no cs_assault in Counter-Strike Source.. I thought that original HL/CS maps would be compatible with Source versions... strange stuff, other than that it's cool!

No its not, coz if you want to buy it from a shop, they are still going to charge you to get DoD source :(

And really, thats all I want it for

I want HL1:Source and DoD:Source. Thats it.

Then download them after buying Half-Life 2 SE. lol

this sounds rather shitty... damn credit cards... i hate them. also this entire locking/encrypting and whatever thing sounds so crappy... can't they just make games like anybody else? a cd, insert install? without crappy steam? without all this stupid lockdowns? *me puked over valve*

hmm, they will most likely only sell ONE package in our shop, and if i want another package, id have to go online :/

Well, usually, they'll have all 3 editions on the shelves, like Warcraft 3, and have the items in the back of the storage area of the store

oh , well, maybe they will, ill compare prices and whats in the package to how much im carrying with me, :p

Other than screwing us over with the horrible collector's edition (which I think I will choose to blame Vivendi for, just so I don't have to hate Valve ), it looks like they've done a pretty good job.

Yehaw; now all they have to do is release it!

I think San andreas was october and HL2 was November.

I'm gonna get the Collector's edtion, Just to not have to faf about with 6 CDs.

This is funny. I bought my graphics card last year specificly for Half-Life 2. Not only did the card go completely obsolete before the game was released, I don't get jack with my key. So, I suppose I'll end up upgrading as long as Half-Life 2 doesn't suck, and if it does, goodbye Valve. I'm not in the mood for this crap ever since I was screwed by Cyan Worlds. None the less, I'm aware there are obstacles in the gaming industry, but this is ridiculous.

Looks like they're doing a good job of exploiting their customers by rereleasing all the old content on the Source engine.

Well, it can't be a complete failure, considering that UK PC Gamer gave it a 96%, which is high praise from them...
