Had to block the adds.... | Locked | |

Yesterday on some add (not sure which) I started getting a javascript error that would lock up my browser. It would keep saying there was an issue with the script & did I want to continue running, debug or stop. If I clicked continue/debug the browser would lock up, if I clicked stop the browser would lock up. I'd have to close via the task mananger. I'm not sure which add because I couldn't scroll though the page or switch tabs. Anyone else have this issue? It was in FireFox 42. |

I don't have any problems with ads on this site. Can you describe it more accurately please? |

Unfortunately, no. Since my browser stopped responding every time this happened I couldn't scroll through the pages to see what was causing the issue. -- Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com |

No issue with firefox 39 and 42, is your java up to date? |

Just updated java and it did the same thing. That's the add loading. Add blocker off. Error. When that particular ad loads my whole browser goes to a crawl. I did manage getting the ad to play by enabling ad blocker before it froze the browser completely. It's a (black/brown?) woman with big hair, looks like a video. A second after it started playing the page reloaded w/o ads. The error URL listed there isn't always the same one, but that one seems to be related to the ad. -- Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com |

The script seems to adapt and set the ad (iframe - ad player) to it's right place and size, so maybe the script is just poorly written and crashes as soon as you try to load it. In this case the ad has to be removed by site staff. Thanks for the screenshots though, they help a lot in error searching Edited by: Phoenix1747 |

Like I said, it doesn't always show that link. One time it just showed moddb.com/:08 (or similar). I can let it crash some more and see. -- Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com |

What if you click on debug script and see what it does? |

Odd we are very strict and only allow high quality non-invasive ads on the system. I will report it and see if we can get this resolved. -- Scott Reismanis |

Yeah sure the browser still freezes but what's the console say? |

Oddly when I load the homepage the adap.tv script never runs so not sure why you are seeing it. I'm passing this message on to our ad team to check and resolve. -- Scott Reismanis |

ok, I decided to unblock moddb and try my lock. In firefox, freezed up again. I got this scripting having an error: Script: Ds.serving-sys.com I can't scroll around to see what ad it was as FF is now frozen solid. I currently have it open in MS Edge & it didn't give me any issues (freezing, script errors, etc). Could be the FF java plugin? -- Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com |

Did you try to deactivate Java in your Firefox? I guess you have the newest version of Firefox installed? Edited by: Phoenix1747 |

FF says they're set to "ask to activate". Latest FF & Java. -- Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com |

Can you try to fully deactivate Java once? Or maybe your antivirus program blocks one script that another depends on. Maybe that's why you get script errors, try deactivating your AV please. Edited by: Phoenix1747 |

Java shouldn't be an issue, i run no-script (kills all java etc) and ghostery and never have issues. |

Seems bizarre our ads are whitelisted so there should be no sneaky ones. We are very proactive in ensuring quality only. does this happen on other sites? -- Scott Reismanis |

I don't think it's a specific ad, it's go to be something with my FF install. It always crashes too, but it crashes even on a fresh OS/FF install w/o any plugins. I've never been able to figure it out. I restarted FF in safe mode. I'll see if anything crashes with this. Should be no plugins running at all. -- Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com |

So you only encountered this problem in Firefox? This is very strange |
||
Apr 3 2016 Anchor | ||
FF still bogs down in safe mode. So now I don't know what it is: flash, shockwave, quicktime, java, etc. all disabled in FF safe mode. All extensions disabled in safe mode. Sigh. -- Go play some Quake 2: q2server.fuzzylogicinc.com |

Its got to be something else, I use firefox on different pc's and OS's with no issue, check your task manager / usage / disk read write, something is conflicting. |

As I already mentioned maybe an antivirus program is blocking something here. Have you got one installed? |
