As if there aren't enough controversies with Sony lately (like the sudden "departure" of Ken Kutaragi), Sony had just hit a new level of insanity. Welcome to Sony's God Of War II launch party, where guests offer fresh goat sacrifices to appease the God of So..... errrr..... War, accompanied by half-naked (topless) maidens, plenty of grape sucking, and other monstrosity (godly) acts. This is one party Kratos himself should be proud of, and Sony is mad enough to appease him.

cool.

For GTA IV launch party hopefully we'll be able to take turns curb-stomping *actual* hookers.

Lol @ the depressed looking topless lass. I reckon she's probably having a worse time of it than that goat.

That's horrific. Killing an animal? just to sell computer games? urgh Sony is the new Microsoft. This is disgusting, I thought this was a joke before I read the article.

Sony is the new Microsoft because Microsoft slaughters tons of animals for releases of windows

"Funny and cool?" Sure it's not a huge deal, but that's still rather disgusting and warped.

If I were Sony, I wouldnt even do this if I thought the game was going to be a complete bomb. Seriously. The old motto "any press is good press" probably isnt the greatest thing in this case; what, with all the people out there who will simply go "Ban Sony's games in America and such! They decapitated a goat and made topless women give people grapes!"

Yeah. If this is supposed to make you want to buy the game- it didnt work on me. :-/

I care because it screams 'Arrogant and Smug'. It is Sony saying 'We can get away with anything cos we are big, bad, Sony. It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks'. Given Sony's reputation with a large chunk of the gaming community (namely, that the PS3 is an overpriced, overhyped machine released a year or two too late, and that Sony are too arrogant to believe that there's a problem), Sony doing something that reinforces the 'Arrogant and Smug' image is a very bad idea. It looks like they are either going to bully their way through the problem despite the odds, or go down with the PS3 ship.

I wonder if David Jaffe has any plans to release games on the 360? ;)

hmmmm.... Well they did actually eat the goat so I really don't see how it's any worse than you and I eating any other type of meat. If they killed it just for the sake of killing it then that's a different story.

what on earth happened to just promoting your game with ingame footage?

well in Sony's case i guess that idea went right outta the window years ago

bravo, Sony love you. If I decapitated a goat for my mod would that also be fine? Or is it more acceptable for a multinational corporation to murder animals for no other purpose than publicty?

Got a linky? I heard about the fake entrails they stuffed it with that people were eating, but I haven't seen a link that confirms the actual carcass was consumed. Just think - it had been under hot stage lights for a good long time - would anyone want to eat it after it had been festering in those conditions? That ain't no way to treat food if you want to keep healthy :o

The insides were fake? The news item just says that they offered people the insides of the goat, but it never said that they were fake.

I mean... it's a cool idea. But the idea of the head still hanging on by a thread is pretty sickening.
