Free 3d/textures/skyboxes/etc. for download at Games Extract Thread

Hey all.

I just recently opened my site, Games Extract, and now am trying to tell the indie/mod developer community about it. I myself am an aspiring game artist. Through my education, I have amassed a collection of art assets that are going unused. Rather than have them just sit on my harddrive, im trying to get them in the hands of people who can use them.

There are also a small selection tutorials up. And since Im constantly honing my art skills, I always have stuff to post, so make sure to check back once in a while.

HEY! Your Adam DeGrandis from Garage Games! lol btw, did ya ever get what i was saying about the tutorials for the textures you got posted up?

Very nice pulled together site and some interesting tutorials .. although i prefer using the offset filter rather than all that copy/pasting for seemless textures.

Looks nice, free texture sites are great.

Fantastic stuff.

I would like to use some of yuor textures and skyboxes in the maps for next release of my mod, Team Rocket Extreme. I will of course credit you.

Very nice layout design. The Selection has a nice array of variety. Did you do this as a strike out on your own from garage games?

Would be nice to have the characters in a more widely accepted format, such as *.3ds, but still, nice work!

Offset filter eh.... im not familiar with this.... ill have to check it out. any tips?

I did this just because I saw a trend at garage games... people wanting to make games, attempting, and then giving up because it takes so damn long. This is just an effort to help make the process a fraction quicker.

Yeah, I hate having just that one filetype up... plan on seeing a wider selection in the near future.

somehow during the course of my venture into making your own game i noticed that starting help is good... but if the dedication is missing not even that can help.

still i encourage such pages. especially for testing engines quickly with a free texture is a usefull move.

go to filter>others>offset

if you put in the values of exactly half the size of your image itll basically do the whole copy paste thing for you heres an image

just wanted to give an update. There are male and female starter characters (base geometry to build characters off of) available now in .blend, .cob, .3ds, .lwo, .obj, and .ms3d formats.

Go download em.

Hope you don't mind me using these in OpenArena ;P (which is gpl, and I hope it complies with the "entirely free" license you have)
