good for aussises i hope, cos atm the alienware shipping costs are rather high
set aside there hardware is almost x2 the cost of the same hardware in other pcs its a costly trip in either directions
lets hope dell will shake this up and allow the poduct to be cheaper and avalible in more locations with their large buying power and influence

Dell's support is absolutely horrible though...

Thats because Dell's support is like 90% India.

Dells support makes me severely angry. I swear they just employ random Indain guys and say, "Here, answer this phone and read this paper to whoever calls you at any time."

Low-paid employees who read out of manuals.

Isn't that all technical support XD?

I'm not too surprised. I never thought much of Alienware anyway - just like Dell; over-rated and over-priced garbage.

I had bought a Dell. The 17 inch LCD screen just stopped working, probably burnt out. The Indian guy had absolutely NO IDEA what to say or do. No joke, My mom had to ask if we could get a replacement. And after a series of confusing noises, he responded by saying "Ok."

Somehow we ended up getting a replacement in 4 days, do not ask me how.

Well xzeox thats exactly the problem, they dont understand english, so they just say OK to everything and actually send out replacements. >.>

[EDIT]

Oh and by the way, according to an article in a news paper my dad read, Dell hired 20,000 more employees in India for support positions. >.>

so does this mean alienware's computers will now have intel integrated extreme piece-of-crap cards and fx5200s?

Dell is only acquiring it, so its not like they are there to change everything, they just now own Alienware, they will most likely produce the same stuff still.

Exactly. Alienware is going to be its own entity, so they still have control over everything they do. It's just Dell's moniker over them. If Dell does come to completely ruin Alienware's street cred, they're going to lose a lot of potential money.
