Hey everyone,
After finishing Blood again after such a long time, i've undergone some nostalgia about the game. I doubt many of you know the game. It's made by 3D Realms and made of a special build of the Duke3D engine.
It's basicly a sort of horror game, and even though it's still a old game, it still knows how to scare the piss out of you.

I've been having the idea lately to start a port of the first episode (it's not abandonware, and the first episode is a free demo) mainly to let people know the game. I've had the idea to make it under the Source engine, but i'm not positively sure yet.

As for people, i'm looking a bit of everything, nothing specific. So wether you are a mapper, a modeler, a simple texture artist or just someone who knows how to make sounds or musics, anything really. If there's anything you could do to help, you can contact me.
I'm not looking for *uber*skilled people, but i'm just looking for people who know the basic knowledge and would have fun in helping with the project.

My skills are very mixed. I'm a decent mapper, geometry modeler and my biggest knowledge lies in photoshop (making textures).
If you want to contact me, just send me a PM :)

P.S : If you get the chance, download the demo and dosbox and play it, it's really worth it!

Well hi! I was/am a big fan of Blood as well and I've been having similar ideas. Truth be told, some years ago a team has made a multiplayer remake of Blood on Darkplaces engine (modified Q1) called Transfusion. You could perhaps use some of their models as placeholders until you finish your own art...

Thanks! Ill defenitly ask them. My aim though is to use a newer-tech engine because it would attract more of the younger audience :)

Definitely, as I've mentioned you could use their art assets just as a placeholder art and then replace it at later stages of the project with current-gen assets :)

Dont mean to sound harsh but the only people that go for remakes are fanboys, they are never impressed and always will complain, put time and effort into something more creative.

I completely agree with you on the topic of "remakes", but I'd really like to see 3 remakes all are Build games: Duke3D (ain't never gonna happen, 'cause Take 2 and/or Apogee would sue developer's ass before they could say "those alien bastards are gonna pay for shooting up my ride"), Redneck Rampage and Blood. Simply because these are the games very dear to my heart - we used to play them as mad when we were teenagers.

Maybe there's anything you can help with?
By the way, a remake of Blake Stone would be good too :)

P.S : There's a demo of duke 3D, if you remake that they cant sue you.

@TKAzA :
Yeah, you are right at that. But also for people such as me and MrTambourineMan it would be good, such as giving a feeling of nostalgia and everything. And not everyone is a fanboy, i'm not one for example.

I'm afraid they could and would, 3D Realms (Apogee) and Id (amongst others) are well known to send C&D letters to mods based on their games.

Ah Blood, I loved that game, evil monks, mimes, gargoyles and excellent one liners.

Re : Mr TambourineMan's point
What gets me is that things like eDuke (pimped up Build engine which Blood also used) and the High Resolution Pack for Duke Nukem are totally fine for some reason. I don't understand how that is free from legal problems, I am assuming it because you need to a least own a bit of the original game to get it to work.

Unfortunately it seems using DosBox and playing the original is probably the safest bet.

Looks like permission could be easier to get than first thought!

A port would fit better with IDTech than source
