I hessitate to use the word blog because of all the connotations of messiah complex teens ranting about the world 'Mein Kampf' style, but none the less blog is the word. I was pondering whether some sort of blogging ability might be included on the site to allow mod teams/indviduals to detail their progression with projects. It would allow people to be more indepth than the front page allows, and have more continuation. I just think it would be a nice way for people to show off progress, discuss what they plan next and so on. Practically obviously its not that simple from the moderation viewpoint, but anyway opinions? |

until you are completely fluent in German and read it in said language, i don't think you are entitled to pass that kind of judgement on "Mein Kampf" --

He's the view of an old of an old right-wing facist fogey like myself. Blogging is bad enough in the normal word. It has positive points, allowing people to let loose any negative/surplus positive feelings they might be harbouring. But as for a gaming/modding community? I can only see in-bred bitch fighting and whinging. Sorry |

blogdb ? It would be a quite interesting read though. I guess it would be a bit like the "what are you currently working on thread". They have something like that on GarageGames.com -- Please visit: |

I think you'd inevitably get both people who used it properly and actually wrote intresting updates on their work, and people who used it as a soap box. Thats why I mentioned the biggest problem probably being moderating it, and given the sheer number of things that already need moderating (news posts, forums, mod profiles) its unrealistic to expect this to be moderated as well, so yeah inveitably you'd have people ranting wildly off topic. You'd hope that people would ignore the ranting nobodies and generally be more intrested in the modding ones, but people like a fight so that isn't realistic either
I'm British, we don't learn other peoples languages, they learn ours and bastardise their litreature into conforming to our odd conventions I've read a sizeable amount of it in English, and no amount of bad translation is going to convince me that it wasn't the work of emo Hitler (despite being extensivley rewritten, imagine how bad the original was...) |

Hitler may have over done it on the pathos but I'd hardly call him an emo. |

User blogging is something that is being heavily considered for version 4.0 of the site. |

Yay! my work here is done.
You could do that, but I think on the whole people would be more engaged by the idea of a dedicated blog (both in terms of writing them and reading them). |

So... how about some kind of portfolio system (a la blogspot's) ? That would seem alot more professional to me. But yes, I do agree with you here. |

Well honestly we haven't seen real drama around here since the Cheapy/BadCompany/azz0r days... maybe thats what we need? --

Well seeing as portfolios is what you were eluding to, yes... a Classifieds/Portfolio system is being heavily considered for implementation into v4. That put you at ease? |

I'd like something along the line of a personal portfolio page per say, not really in need of a blog though. I was just thinking it would be nice to have a users work shown in their information. |

We are planning on making profiles a very prominent feature in v4, especially when it comes to showcasing one's work. Expect the features mentioned above to be heavily conisdered. We're planning a beta soon for users to try out for themselves. -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |
