After seeing Karuto's budget pc, it inspired me to look more into custom pc building. So my question is, what's the best store or website for buying custom pc parts?

Fixed.

NewEgg.com seems to be the best for American customers, from experience.

www.ncix.com is another great place to look for computer materials.

You can check www.pricewatch.com to see what the latest prices are on items to see that you won't be gipped out of anything overpriced. You may also want to check the history of any and all custom pc parts web sites, just to make sure that you'll spend all that money and be sure to get that product.

Of course, Newegg.com is the best, since they have the widest range of pc parts, as well as one of the fastest services (you get it 2-3 days after purchasing if you select the regular shipping route).

Don't underestimate your local stores. Sure you have to deal with rebates for some deals, but if you can do them their great. You can pick up a 80gig drive at best buy for 30 bucks this weekend. Its a 8mb cache and 7200 rpm I believe as well, and thats just an example.

I picked up my ram dirt cheap too, and theres gonna be great deals on keyboards and mice too. I do a LOT of shopping at microcenter (site) because their only about 3 blocks from my house, their very knowledgeble, but there may not be a store near you.

The little "mom and pop" stores have good deals on some stuff too, it just serves to look around. Compusa is a good one too, look in the sunday ads and the ads that wil undoubtably come out around xmas.
