Question, what is the best engine for beginners? More specifically, if someone with fundamental understanding of modeling, texturing, animation and programming decides to make a mod, what would be the best engine to learn some basic modding skills? Thanks in advance |

Id recommend all the older games for simple engines -- Nothing. |

Yeah, go with Quake. It's very simple (although after you're progressing, it can be as complex as you want it to be ) --

cube engine! if you want to learn about the inner workings of a 3d engine. very very simple but i hope you know c++ |

Lol, I don't think he's familiar with C++ just yet, although he could be ^_^. I'd personally recommend anything from the Quake Series (minus Q4) as they're all very well documented and use an extremely simple derivitive form of the regular C language. |
