People always call America the land of the free, but I've never understood why. Anyone care to enlighten me? (This is not anti-American in any way) -- “I hereby state my opinion that the notion of a [expletive deleted] is a basic superstition, that there is no evidence for the existence of any [expletive deleted].” |

The same goes for Home of the Brave. Edited by: Fragvergnugen -- Don't worry about people stealing your ideas. If your ideas are any good, you'll have to ram them down people's throats. |

The guy who wrote the national anthem got it right when he made 'free' on such a high note that no-one could reach it. -- Not me, borrowed from a ad for a TV show I saw |

he was writing the national anthom during a battle on a ship at night. i thought he did pretty good for the circumstances. its called home of the free for the same reason a bride wears white, its just been passed down so much. free, freedom of religion. there are still countries that force you to worship their deity. freedom of speech, while not literally meant, americans have a little more freedom than the rest of the world, we can say just about anything but bomb and no one would care. so really we arnt free. america is just full of itsself. its better because someone said so. honestly i'd rather be else where (and before some smacktard goes "why dont you just move then" think about it, im a teen going to high school) |

Land of the free, because you weren't slaughtered for standing up for what you believe in. America is the greatest nation in the world, and there's no other country I'd rather be in -- "He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster." |

Personally I'm sick of America. I love what America stands for, and the freedom. But seriously...... We've become a stuck-up ignorant asshole of a country. Sorry if I hurt anyone's feeling  I've just become very disappointed in our *supposed* great country. -- ShadowLore profile: Moddb.com |

We don't do anything? I wonder what UNICEF is... Not to mention, look at Bill Gates. A lot of people might hate/jealous of him, but he gives hundreds of millions of dollars to charities every year. He's the world's biggest philanthropist And you shouldn't call us that. It's not our fault. It's the people that run our country Sure, there are things we take for granted, but there are plenty of giving people here, too. Wasn't talking about the people of America, more just the government. And yes I'm aware that Bill Gates gives money to charity. But that doesn't show anything about the actualy country. Just about him. -- ShadowLore profile: Moddb.com |

*me is blown away Be thankful for the freedoms you have, and don't dwell on those you don't. There are people worse off elsewhere who have near to no freedoms at all (poor Nelson Mandella). Edited by (in order): frosty-theaussie, frosty-theaussie --

Don't like it? move millions have died for your ass appreciate what ya got... ever heard "freedom isn't free?" ..yeah Oh yeah and to answer the initial question.... America is free... if we make fun of a political situation in a comic we don't get improsined and beaten.... if we protest the national guard dosen't mow us down.... really the only problem I have with America is that we are getting too "soft" and by that I mean... well here is an example. If you kill someone and get the death penalty, in most states it will be lethal injection. Before they give you the shot they try to deaden it... Yeah America is free but where did the justice go? I say if you commit homicide and you are caught. You die the same death as your victim. Edited by: Hatel3reed --
