I'm getting out of the army next Jan. and want to dump everything from my old portfolio and build a new one. I am trained in all areas of the 3d pipeline but my focus has always been with VFX. However the jobs I am looking at in the military simulation field are forcing me to switch my focus to modeling and texturing. I am offering my services for free at this time but since I am in Afghanistan and have priorities, I have to have limitations.

- I will only offer to work on one item at a time. (will choose item based on how it will benefit my portfolio).
- There may be times when I lose communication abilities.
- I would prefer to work for some one who can implement my creation into a game quickly (even if not in the game being developed).
- Mission comes first, but I will try my best to get stuff done quickly (benefits me as much as you).
- I would like to work on something all the way trough (model and texture), because that's what the employers are looking for.

That's all I can think about right now but other things may come up. Rigging and animating are definitely my weak point so they will take some extra time. I have a website, purdyfx dot com (I can't add links) , I'm in the process of making a temp one right now so there isn't much on it but I am hoping to add to it in next couple days. I'm no web developer so it's taking a while. Sorry if I sound like a douche, but I got a wife and kid to feed and want to have as good of a portfolio as possible.

Animation is definitely a weak point of mine I could give it a shot... prefer to focus on models at the moment.

We at open Outcast are looking for someone to model semi-realistic weapons for our next demo that will focus on a new combat system. Maybe someone from the army with modeling experience might be just the one we need? ;)

if i recall, its up to modeler to import the model in to the game / mod.
modelerĀ“s job is not just to make models.

Modeler is vague term to judge what a person can do, i know some who only can model, they cant even uv. I do believe those who title themselves as generalist can uv, texture and use supporting software such as zbrush. Importing model is not always part of the modeler's job, but in most cases, modeler get instruction on how to test their models in custom engines and such.
