Description

So here it is, After so many years, so many trials and against the various agents of chaos that the Great Old Ones could throw at us, I am proud to announce the imminent release of the final instalment of 'The Intern's Story'. Installing the mod. Note: This is NOT a Source 2013 mod, so DO NOT put it into the Sourcemods\common folder. Simply extract the tispart3 file into your: Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods folder and start/restart Steam. If the mod requires any of the Steam SDK's, it should download them automatically, then you can fire up your new adventure.

Installing the mod.

Note: This is NOT a Source 2013 mod, so DO NOT put it into the Sourcemods\common folder.

Simply extract the file into your: Steam\SteamApps\sourcemods folder and start/restart Steam.
If the mod requires any of the Steam SDK's, it should download them automatically, then you can fire up your new adventure.

Here are a couple of tips to help with a successful and pleasant play-through that I think I should mention.

Do not leave Bee behind, as you will need to keep them close to prevent strange and destructive path-finding events of nightmarish proportions from occurring. Just try not to sprint ahead, that's all I'm saying.

There also seems to be a preferred screen resolution for some PC's of 1680 x 1050 with a widescreen 16:10, to allow all the text to show properly. Higher or lower may cause issues but then again it may not!

Good luck and enjoy.

Quin.

I can't even see the main menu outside of seeing it in 800 by 600p. It doesn't like to go any higher than that.

EDIT: Solution! Just start the game in 800 by 600p, then make the settings as high as you can run it, then click "apply". After that, you should be able to set the game to whatever resolution you desire.

You are correct and I should have said that the res may need to be adjusted inside the mod.
Thanx for the correction.

Thanks for the kind words DarkShift, your input was really helpful, as always. Because of the helpful feedback from all the testers, I was given that extra push that made a weary dev, go the extra mile (or two). :)

I'm with Darkshift, I'm hoping this mod gets many plays. Deserves so much after all that's been put into it.
I'll need to treat myself to an entire play through from the first chapters to the last in celebration of your successful release ^_^
Thank you Quinjet!

Is there any chance this mod will be uploaded to RunShootThinkLive.com? There's a sizable audience of people there who are hoping to play new mods, but I don't think have heard of the interns story yet D:

'TIS Redux' contains parts 1&2 and can be found on the main downloads page.

Damm ,i just downloaded part one from Gamewatcher .
Intern_part_1_setup.exe (201mb approx.)

I have a very slow download connection and moddb+mirrors are throttled to 6kbs for some reason.
I was hoping to find part 2 on Gamewatcher as it downloads faster for me.
I'll have to try and find another way ,thanks anyways.

Wow that's really a pain. If you can though, go for the Redux version as it is has more refined mapping.

Ah ok thanks for the info ,i'll go for the redux version then.
Shame it's not on gamefront ,that's not so bad either for downloading from.

Hi,
I'm not an expert when it comes to Steam libraries but is it because you have the SDK 2006 & Source SDK on your C:\common drive instead of the E:\common drive?. Not sure if you can just copy and paste from C: to E: but it might be worth a go. Remember to restart Steam afterwards.
Good luck.

i remember posting this on steam because HL2 ep1 + ep2 wouldn't start
================
If u get this error where HL2 starts up instead of EP1 .
or the EP1 won't start and is stuck in task manager
TRY THIS:
Go to the Half-Life 2 gamefolder and make a shortcut of HL2.EXE and put ' -game episodic ' in the shortcut (without the quote marks)
and run it from the shortcut.

For EP2 it's "-game ep2" .
========
I was thinking maybe there is some shortcut i could add to the HL2.exe that runs the intern mod.

Anyway i'll try your tip and see if it works.

Don't think so i just finshed HL2 and have played a bit of EP1.

I've left it for now ,i'll try again soon maybe on a different computer with a new steam setup.
Though it prob. won't make any difference .

Not that its an issue but the two zips in comes in are different formats. It slightly triggers me, but from what I've heard, it sounds worth the trouble. Thanks for making the mod ^_^

I'm very confused at times, and I am stuck with a bad ending. I'm at the part where you can find B, but a monster jumps from the ceiling and I can't run or I get a bad ending. I really want to finish this game, but i'm absolutely stuck.

It sounds like you are still in the hospital and you are getting the madness ending, am I right?
By doing a lot of exploring you trigger strange events that count towards this ending. Hopefully you have been saving the game, so go back to an earlier save and try to avoid some of those places. Otherwise there is an auto save from the beginning of the level and from what you have learned you now know a shorter and safer route to Bee's cell.

Hope this helps,

Just finished testing this (took me waaay too long, sorry!) and I'm really impressed with it. Like DarkShift said, this is 100% top tier modding. It's an ambitious and fitting conclusion to the story Quin started way way back with TIS1.

Also, this mod has been in development for... how long? I think 7 years? Quin deserves so many pats on the back just for managing to finish this project after all this time! I remember, when he started working on it he advertised for modders and other help, and one of the draws was "This WILL get finished. TIS1 and 2 prove that I can and do finish projects. This will not quietly disappear." And seven years later, it DID get finished!

Seriously, Quin, well done.

Well, i am stuck. I found the key, unlocked the door and than in the next corridor screen turns black and white, some sort of creature appears and than there is a cutscene of a PC himself turned into one of them and thats it, game over.

Hi,
It sounds like you managed to trigger the 'Gone insane' alternative ending in the hospital (you are a true seeker).
Now you know where the ward key is kept, it is easiest to restart the level from the auto-save and go straight for the key and avoid all the areas of strangeness to progress.
Hope this helps, if not let me know.
