Mothership capture time reduced from 1200 to 300 seconds
FFH-35 Heavy Frigate reduced rate of fire for mines, new turret HOD
Hiigaran laser-armed units will now fire dark blue laser pulses instead of orange pulses
CF-17B LRCT Strike Fighter launcher size has been reduced to 75% its original size
Long-range missiles (from Standoff Frigates) and heavy thermonuclear warhead upgrades (from Strategic Bombers) will show up as yellow dots in the sensor manager

It's a great idea and nice way to distribute software. Especially when the software is crossplatform.
A fair number of people have difficulty installing raw .big files and creating the necessary shortcuts to launch the game, hence why we began archiving and distributing the mod in executable files.
Not that it should make any difference, as I doubt TFS is compatible with non-Windows based operating systems.
If speaking of the .exe installer it definitely is not. The mod itself however works just fine.
wine is your friend if you run linux :)
Everytime i play campaign the game just loads with no cutsene and no hud at the map and all i can do is move around

well at one point i had an issue where my stuff looked awesome from a distance and crap up close but i reinstalled the game and no issues. great mod i can play for days without end

Oh my... Brilliant mod, a single player playtrough would be just totally epic, but it seems to be fairly bad balanced.
Second mission is impossible, either the transports are going down, or captain sobans frigatte. =/ Is there any way to just increase the hull strength of the transports?

On the install ReadMe do step 3 and use the new shortcut you created and the mod should work.
This mod does not work anymore on windows 7. Go to start up and its just a black screen then back to desktop.

Doesn't work. Tried step 3 by creating a new shortcut, editing the target info, just does the exact same thing. Starts to load and black screens before returning to Desktop.

I recently dusted off my copy of HW2 and installed this mod, Im a campaign player so yea, done vanilla to death.
I had issues with mission 3, but found that if you destroy the first carrier before the others show up they will never trigger.
Onto my issue. Mission 9. I just cannot defend the shipyard. I have tried positioning most of my ships to protect the incommong shipyard (before its triggered) but to no avail, the destroyers and cruiser kill it so fast it aint funny.

When I last tested the campaign a few years back, I was able to defend the shipyard in v2.8.1 by having a DDE-73 (escort destroyer) and a few DDK / DDI / CCK cruisers positioned where the Shipyard Nabaal jumps in.
thanks for the mod, HW2 is far beyond the game of a decade, now that over 10 years after its release it's still being played and its mods updated.
have a few comments on mission 3:
- never been able to go past it in previous versions of TFS;
- if I destroy 1st carrier - the others don't trigger;
- even if I destroy the final 3 carriers, conditions for mission end are not met - seems to be related to destroying the probes objective;
- never able to find all the probes, even after scouting the entire map with a scout squadron;
- the TFSv2.7M3.big didn't seem to work either;
- this is the first time I noticed the M4persist folder and the fix described in there - this is how I finally unlocked mission 4 with TFS; should be mentioned that in addition to what is stated at point 2 in the instructions, you should also change
maxmission = 3 to maxmission = 4
otherwise mission 4 does not unlock in the campaign loading screen.
Also, as a personal opinion, it would be great if the damage/ship_health ratio were to be tweaked to allow longer fights. Everything tends to blow up pretty quickly and I like to battle for hours, not be done in minutes. So if it takes 30 minutes of sustained assaults to bring down a carrier, that does not bother me at all :).

There is already a setting in some game modes that allows you to increase and decrease the weapon damage ratio. If I recall correctly, the game mode is called "TFS v2.8RD" or "Cinematic Mode" and allows you to set the damage ratio at 25, 50 or 75% of the default damage value.

I am having severe lag with the camera. The rest of the mod runs very smoothly, but when I try too orbit the camera, it doesn't respond to the command for a good ten seconds, and then it rotates as if it was going frame by frame. I can toggle sensor mod easily, but the lag persists there too. Running this on windows 7.
It sounds like you are having issues with your frame rate being too high. Try enabling Vsync to eliminate the lag.
