WHAT IS THE LAA-Patch?
------------------------------
The LAA Patch can be applied on ANY .exe file allowing it to adress more then 2GB of Ram, which usually prevents the app to crash once that 2GB limit got reached.
WHAT DOES IT DO IN DOW?
----------------
The LAA-Patch allocates extra ram to your Dawn of War - Soulstorm game to
make the game run smoother and prevent crashes. If you experience crashes mid game,
the LAA-Patch will completely remove mid game crashes from happening.
WHY WOULD I WANT THE REGULAR EXECUTABLE AGAIN?
----------------------------------------------
If you install the LAA-Patch then the people you play with must too. If you know
that the people or friends you are playing with do not have the LAA Patch installed,
then you will not be able to see each other's games. To be able to play with each other
again either have them install the Ntcore executable, or install the regular executable.
HOW DO I INSTALL THE LAA-PATCH?
--------------------------------------------------
Now launch the LAA Patch executable and navigate to your Soulstorm.exe file and patch it. As soon as that's done click "Another file" and search for the GraphicsConfig.exe file and patch that one too!
To install the Patch, navigate to your main Soulstorm directory (where you installed the game)
which is usually found under:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Dawn of War Soulstorm
This directory is dependent on where you installed your Soulstorm, you may have
installed your Dawn of War - Soulstorm elsewhere and if so, just go to your main Dawn of War
Soulstorm folder.
If have previously used the NTCore 2.0 executable you must restore the original soulstorm.exe before applying the LAA Patch, else it won't work in multiplayer! If you have your Soulstorm installed on STEAM do the following:
- Go to your STEAM library, right-click on soulstorm and select "properties"
- Select the "Local Files" tab, then "verify integrity of game cache"
- Once the validation completed your soulstorm.exe should be refreshed
- Now apply the LAA patch to the files mentioned above
Take the Soulstorm.exe file and drag or copy it into your main Dawn of War - Soulstorm directory,
and when asked to overwrite or copy and replace your current Soulstorm.exe select yes.
You're good to go!

-Greetings from the UA Mod Team
Why should we use this if we have used Ntcore.exe before? Is it better?
The NTCore 2.0 exe is from now on considered deprecated by the UA Mod Team. The reason for that is fairly simple:
Everytime SEGA updates Soulstorm (Which shouldn't be frequently but still) the creator of the NTCore has to make a new version of the Soulstorm.exe or you'll basically downgrade your sousltorm.exe everytime you install NTCore 2.0
The LAA Patach on the other hand does not completely replace your EXE but just applies the large adress flag. So everytime Soulstorm gets an update you only have to reapply the LAA Patch which preserves the build, instead of downgrading everything.
Also because of that "downgrade" thing the NTCore EXE is INCOMPATIBLE to the LAA Patched one.
Thus from now on to preserve consistancy we highly recommend you using the LAA Patch instead of the NTCore EXE.
If you have previously used NT Core 2.0, please use the verify game cache on steam to refresh your files and apply the LAA Patch then. Do not apply the LAA Patch over the NTCore EXE or you'll only patch a downgraded EXE and you won't be able to see multiplayer lobbies of properly patched games.
how do i verify my game cache with the steam version?

When I verify the integrity of the game cache it re-downloads 3 files?? not just one so will this break something?
Seems like some more things were possibly broken ^^. Just reapply the LAA Patch now on BOTH the Soulstorm.exe and the GraphicsConfig.exe and you should be fine.
Veryfy Game Cache refreshes your files if they don't match with the Database. Because NTCore 2.0 contains two files STEAM should've downloaded 2 files at least. So that 3rd might've been some other modified/missing files. All should be good now ^^.
Does this work for disk version?
Unfortunately no since SEGA doesn't offer patches like it does in STEAM. Fortunately, for the last many years, Steam's DoW1 SS' updates are almost entirely focused on MP patches and NOT on code or art so thankfully it does not complicate my AI work which solely is based on the CD/DVD version of old.
Let me correct you thudo: The NTCore 2.0 was indeed only working with STEAM soulstorm, while the LAA patch is different.
You can patch ANY EXE with the LAA Patch! Yes anyone! The LAA patch does not replace any EXE file but instead ads a flag to the EXE so it can use more then 2GB RAM.
You can use this also on your disc Soulstorm version and we highly recommend you to do so.
Just be sure to patch both Soulstorm.exe and GraphicsConfig.exe and you're good to go.
Interesting.. now does it work with a computer w/o a CD/DVD drive? For a year now I had to ditch such drives as newer laptops do not come with those anymore so curious if it will work without one? Have to test that.
Well if you don't have any disc drive then yer screwed anyways xD.
But the LAA patch itself only sets a large adress awareness flag inside ANY executable you target it to. Yes you can even patch Microsoft Word with the LAA patch as it's application independant ^^.
I patched my CD Soulstorm version with the LAA Patch and it worked.
Not when you have the ISO... CD/DVD drives are beyond ancient now and with my latest super laptop they were made redundant and incredibly slow.
But wait.. yer saying the LAA Patch does not touch the soulstorm.exe? If not then it should still work fine without any by-gone era optical drive.
LAA works on ANY executable. Soulstorm or otherwise
Now, I have a legit disc copy of Soulstorm, so that doesnt matter to me. I patch up the executable
But I'll say this, ive used LAA type programs before on less than legit executables and they work fine
The LAA patch don't works with cracked soulstorm ?
Alright thanks.
So does this work with mods?
It does not change anything that could possible break mods, so: yes, it should work with mods.
The LAA Patch only changes the base games EXE. As long as both users have LAA patched their games, you'll be able to play games with him using any Mod you want.
Ok thanks guys
How do I apply the patch to both Soulstorm.exe and GraphicsConfig.exe? Simply I have to execute 4gb_patch.exe or what?
Nevermind, solved
how did you do it?

Is there a way to make the .exe use EVEN MORE RAM? I have plenty of RAM and I want the game to run as smooth as possible
Not without changing the source code of the game itself, which we have no access to :C.
Maybe one day SEGA will make DoW I Opensource, that'd be amazing!
Only way would be recompiling Soulstorm.exe as a 64-bit executable. As Cosmo said, the source code is required for that.
Still, more available RAM *does not* translate to better performance. It "just" raises the limit of how much stuff (read: large armies with fancy models & textures) you can do in DoW at the same time.
Can use if my Soulstorm.exe is cracked ?
From a technical standpoint, I don't see why it wouldn't work. However we can't exactly officially endorse piracy, SEGA would have our ***** served on a plate and our heads on spikes or on realistic terms, UA shut down and team members sued for a redonkulous amount of money, effectively ruining our lives.
Plus, Steam's holiday sale is blooming atm, even if somehow a 50% discount on Soulstorm isn't enough, chances are it'll get an even bigger discount before the sale's over.
There's practically no excuse to not buy it.
Can't use the LAA in cracked soulstorm
Make sure it isn't read only, and you have permissions to edit the file and such.

Interestingly, after I had used this to patch the Soulstorm.exe + GraphicsConfig.exe, my anti-virus flags it as a "Generic Behavioural Threat"...
How do you even patch it to Soulstorm.exe, so far only GraphicsConfig.exe works.
I would appreciate your guidance.
So, i have 16 gb RAM, but the game still only uses 2 gigs, any idea?
the LAA patcher show the .exes to be flagged
I have the same problem. LAA patch has been used on the exe but task manager only reports a maximum 2GB being used for soulstorm. Does task manager not give the correct information?
Game still crashes Mid game with LAA
Thank you for this patch now I can play with more than 2 players without crashes.
i can't patch the soulstorm.exe when i have to pick the soulstorm.exe to Patch ... doesn't appear
i can't patch the soulstorm.exe please help.... when i'm in the patch and i have to select the exe i want to patch soulstorm.exe didn't appear...
Just for Windows 64-bit or also for 32-bit versions?
when i try to use LAA on the soulstorm.exe or graphicsconfig it just says "catastrophic failure"
I am running laa as an administrator, why is this happening?
nevermind, resolved, i moved the files out onto my desktop and was able to laa them there.
In Dawn Of War Mod Manager 1.4
Soulstorm.exe: LAA Inactive
GraphicsConfig.exe: LAA Active
Help would be appreciated please.
From what I can see I installed this MOD correctly,
I am able to play as Tyranids but not any new faction other than. There are also no new units other then the ones that come with the game.
I used this walkthrough:
Youtube.com
to aid me in installation on the 31/07/17.
Any help would be great.
