Been wanting something like this, especially since you can survive outside during Psi-Storms if you have high enough Psi protection and avoid the strikes. Gonna try it out now!
Yea just tried it out, 10/10 this is exactly what I was wanting. Easy install as well. I managed to avoid the first few strikes, but then once there were like 5 going off at once, I started having more trouble avoiding them and took large chunks of damage if they were too close. Wearing a Renegade SEVA so not the best armor, but not bad either. The sudden silence after it all stops is great too.
Do the Psi-storms actually turn npc to zombified, as ingame configs suggest?
I swear I got it on, but I've never seen zombified npcs turned by a psi-storm. All they do is sprint places, go out when the storm is going on and instantly despawn lmao

Definitely does, easy way to test it out is tell Companions to stay out. I assume it's less frequent with average NPCs, not sure if there are places they can be where they couldn't sprint to cover, but with some mods that make them wander around more like Living Zone IDK.
i literally deactivated psy storms because not only they where longer than blowouts, but they where boring as hell, like it felt that you were forced to take shelter from a smol rain.
im going to try out your addon and thanks so much for your work man, 10/10 just because this could be essential
one of the best mods so far, only thing i would add is the distance that a vortex can spawn, because for some reason, the vortexs of the psy storms always spawn very very close to the player.

I made some changes for the better actually thx.
I was concerned that if i made them spawn in a largeer area that they would be less a threat to the player. But i upped the radius damage and frequency a little and the spawn distance was doubled. Now they are more deadly and you see them spawning a good ways away. Thx tweaking some other things as well and I want wait for some more feed back will probably update in a week.

Nice addon, but I got a problem, I got the "defend the barrier" quest, but at the same time I got a psy storm, I just hide and wait for the storm to finish, but here is the problem, the storm finished but the "stay on cover" quest still was there and never completed.
My addon does not touch any thing to do with quests.
or even frequency of emissions.
Did the psi storm kill all the NPCs in the area or is the quest just not progressing ? feasibly a blow out would cause the same issue if the needed npcs died.

Every time I use the debugger option, nothing happens, on console I can read the message that an emission is going to start but nothing, if I do the same on a new game, I got everything ok, so now I guess my save is corrupted :C
did you try a different save form that same character? Also keep some older saves around incase something goes wrong and you only lose a few days of play vs months.
There was really nothing new added with this addon only some parameter tweaks. So I can't see at all how it would Bork a save.
I've had a few small bugs, nothing game breaking, but I've had some Psi Storms start, let off maybe 6 bolts, then no more bolts or hide quest, but the weather is still all stormy and doesn't stop. Just had one where the storm started, but then the sky went all red like an emission, that storm played out and ended like normal aside from that. I'm keeping it installed and trying to watch for more, figure out what's maybe causing it. Maybe Michiko's Weather being installed as well is causing some confusion, not sure since it says there are no conflicts.
At night the default settings for psi-storm has really red. emission like lighting schemes, I have re-done the lighting. For both day adn night. now the lighting, will be a little blue (hard to see at night) but also much darker. for both day and night storms. So that will come with next update.
With my own testing and what little i know of scripting looking through the psi_storm scripts.
While the length of the storm never changes. It seems there is a bit of variation in how long Vortex's get spawned. Which can either end early, hardly spawn any at all, or spawn for the entire duration of the storm. which becomes more noticeable with how much they spawn in my addon.
PSi storms are normally such a boar and those vortex's spawned so infrequent that i don't think it was easy to noticed the randomness to their duration.
I don't think mochiko's touches emissions just regular weather
With the thing where the Storm starts, then stops after a few bolts, I've found that if I save and then reload the stormy weather/lightning/etc. will stop, so that at least is a way to fix it, it's just unfortunate the Psy Storm ends so early sometimes. I'm gonna actually turn up the frequency of them now that I think about it, that at least should make narrowing down what may be throwing it off.
I only changed 2 numbers in the script that define the min and max frequency of the vortexs.
The code that controls the actual vortexs starting and stopping is further down in the script, it is all based on event timers.
There is a greater then and less then line. Which gives fthe range of times vortexs will spawn. and I think a math rnd in their as well as well.
I did not touch any of that.
Hard to catch if they only occur every 8-16 seconds or so as is default behaviour.
Or it may be a feature.
But it's is coding and upping the frequency may break the script in some way.

With out the vortexs spawning in it may feel like it goes on for ever. But eventually they do end. I have sat through so many now fine tuning stuff for the next update.

The (your) PSI storm ended and the Stay in Cover quest was gone. It was just the general stormy weather, lightning, wind, that sort of stuff seemed to last when it had been calm before the Psi Storm started. If I remember right NPCs all still stayed in cover, but I took my companions outside and they didn't die. I'd have to see it happen again to confirm that.
By upping the frequency I meant in the in-game Zone settings, like I had it to only be every 1-2 days I made it more of a common occurrence so I can see them happen more.
(I just want to throw an edit to say the mod works great for me, if you're reading this and considering installing my suggestion is YES.)
Hey bud, havent tried it yet but in case you dont already have it, add rain effects to the storm during.
I thought about adding rain but i deiced to keep it dry it is a psi storm after all.
Emissions already leave the weather rainy, if psy storms did that too it's gonna be rain 24x7 lol

With top tier armor you can still survive. Upping the damage per strike may be next. But now its at least more harrowing.

YES PLS, top tier suits are supposed to help survive a psy-storm and not be able to swim into it without getting any damage

Though I notice this has a conflict Desmon's Horror Overhaul. A patch for that would be nice.
edit: Demon's addon only seems to change the horn sound. Load Vicious Psi Storms after it and enhance the immersion

yes some weirdness is a foot i posted over in discord to see if the code folks over there can parse out a issue.
