Well, the pack was decent as far as models and textures and the like go. But unfortunately it completely destroys the pacing and balance of the original version.

I have a problem with this, it completely disables the crosshair which is annoying. Any solutions to it?

You can try porting a different sprite from any half-life mod, Or find one on fpsbanana, The Makers of this pack never had any intention of putting crosshairs in the mod, For realistic purposes,

Alternatively you can enable autoaim.

But its not realistic... in real life you can aim down the sights of a weapon, but you can't in this mod.
So it makes no sense what so ever.
Actually in real life you would never fire a gun from the hip except in rare instances. Why didn't this mod just disable crosshair by default, instead of completely removing it from the game? Give people the choice...
Anyone know how to fix this?

um... realism ruins the point of a 'game' if you want realism join the army, bout as real as it gets.
no crosshairs and all the iron sighting you can do all day...

Yes but you can actually aim in real life, if you remove crosshairs then there is no way to aim in the mod except guessing where the center of the screen is.

Is there anyway to replace the Thompson with a modern gun and the zombie baby with a headcrab? I like the pack a lot other then those two things...

In case you didn't know, They Hunger is set in the 1950's,

And yes the tommy gun was still in use back then, So a modern weapon would not exactly fit into the setting,

As for the zombie baby, It pays to look at the Description a little harder.

Actually it is debated whether or not they hunger took place in the 50s. For one the G36 wasn't made 'til the 80s. Not to mention the modern looking helicopters. Also for this addon it should be noted that one of the weapons is a SAW machine which wasn't even in development until the late 60s. And really just about all the new models are modern except for the Thompson and the grease gun. And the grease gun can be easily justified as an antique. But when I see moderd looking soldiers wielding tommy guns it just looks rediculous.
And where exactly in the description does it say that the headcrab is replaced with a zombie baby? Everything except the baby model is a massive increase in quality and it's dissapionting to see the IMO cool headcrabs replaced by the IMO annoying babies.

The "modern soldier" as you call it, Is wearing military garb that was used during the korean and vietnam war,

And as for the SAW, It is in fact a M60, And when i meant by "look at the description a little harder" I meant that there are alternative models in the in models directory,

If you insist on complaining, Take it up with r!chard one of the makers of the pack,

If you want a more "modern feel" with they hunger i suggest They Hunger: Tactical: Moddb.com

A. That addon/mod looks freaking sweet. Thanks a ton for finding it.
B. Pretty sure it was an M60 but I might have been wrong.
C. The soldiers in the mod look nothing like vietnam soldiers. At least not to me.
D. There was an alterative skin for the baby/headcrab? The closest I saw was headcrab baby mistake.
E. I apologise if I came across as a "whiner" as I did not mean to.
Loved the pack for the most part(especially the fast zombies and no crosshair) and just was looking to find a way to make it even better.

(Ugh edit button timed out) yeah the machine gun in the addon is a SAW no doubt about it.
The Vietnam soldier wore plain green camo as opposed to the mixed color camo modern day soldiers and the ones in the mod wear.
But in all honesty They Hunger is such an Anachronism Stew it's impossible to pin down exactly when it takes place. So I guess it akes place in whatever era you want it too.

I don't know why but when I try to play this mod I have no crosshairs. I can't aim, so this pack makes the game completely unplayable.

How do I re-enable crosshairs?

I figured it out. Just Delete all the weapons txt files in the sprites folder such as "weapon_crossbow.txt".
I also recommend replacing the cbar_hitbod1.wav sound file with something less annoying.
My only other issue with the mod is that a head shot with a colt doesn't kill a zombie.. it takes 3 headshots. If the mod is trying to be realistic then why is it so unrealistic?

you talk like a dumpass,like you never play any game before ! most game trying to be realistic as possible : red orchestra,battle field,call of duty,...Game are for fun,not to be in a real life war,they do that just to make the game harder but there is a litmit for that.This addon make the game has no crosshair or ironsight and that just stupid !

yeah it's the no run folder i tested it real quick the zombies walk like they did before and are the new models i haven't seen the effects on the super zombies and dogs yet

The good:

The dynamite is leagues ahead of Hunger's default model, the RPG 7 though unused and from HOE:NAPALM is regardless one of the better rpg's out there, the medkit syringe definitely fits more with the old times, the grease gun isn't half bad, the barnacle's green colour fits in nicely with the forest areas, the pistol's chrome was done rather well and I will make use of player models in deathmatch scenarios.

The bad:

The Zork looks nothing like patch work but rather something made of charcoal with red eyes and a tube running through the arm, The zombies are a modification of other models; albeit hideous formations in terms of the zombies and the models themselves, the large bullsquid is a direct rip from HOE:NAPALM re sized, and the regular bullsquid is simply a human with twisted legs.

The ugly:

The zombie bull and chicken simply have new eyeballs, The Tommy Gun has that annoying tradition of replacing launched grenades with hand thrown ones ( otherwise good model ), zombie grunts don't give off the impression of falling apart, some of the weapon models that have been replaced are otherwise not encountered in the Hunger mod, and the term Ultra Definition sounds stupid in general.

( The good, the bad and the ugly. Get it? :P )

Final words:

No matter how stupid the shotgun may be it is better than hunger default, and the zombies have red eyes... Must be a horror thing.

I like the skins but this mod increases the zombies speed, increases the zombies health, and increase the damage the zombies deal on the player. Its almos impossible to go through the first part, the zombies run too fast, i takes 8 pistol shots to kill a single zombie and the player dies in 2 hits.

Could anybody FIX the annoying bug in this model pack that makes the zombies run like crazy? The movement speed is definitely somewhere in the model files as I tried using them by one, without any other file from the pack. Without the fix this pack is just unusable.

During the 2nd episode when dr franklin brings the zork to life, after you kill it, a zork is supposed to run behind franklin and smash stuff. This doesn't happen in the addon version,and the game basically comes to a standstill. Any way to fix this?

The running zombies in this mod makes hard difficulty almost impossible in the first episode. Just throwing it out there to anyone looking for a challenge...
