Have you ever wondered what the UAC may have looked like before Dr Betruger went mad? Wonder no more, with this map free of all things evil :)
To Install:
simply place the map and script files in your Doom 3 maps directory, and launch in console with "map good_delta3"
What is it?
I combined the maps of the original Delta 3 and 4, and reversed all the damage done by the invasion. This was a small "what if" project I wanted to share just in case anybody else was also wondering what the UAC could've been like before the invasion. You are free to teleport around the complex just as in the original game, or walk around and use walkways, elevators, and doors that had otherwise been destroyed by the invading horde. In Delta 4 specifically, you'll find a stairway leading up to the Main Portal observation room where Betruger once taunted you in the original game. I attempted to follow the architecture and styling to fill in things that were missing.
Obviously as there are no monsters no kill, you won't find adrenaline-filled action here. Instead, think of it as imagining what could've been. The developers did a great job of creating cohesive map layouts, and it's almost impossible to appreciate the effort they put into constructing and then de-constructing the world without seeing what it was first like. If this gains any kind of traction I might consider un-evil-ing more maps.
Note This map does make some function calls back to the original Delta 3 script file. As long as your game still contains the original Delta 3 (there'd be no reason why it wouldn't unless it was intentionally deleted) it will work just fine. Just a friendly disclaimer. Obviously, credit to idSoftware for the original map layouts. No copyright infringement intended. I recommend Absolute HD mod for best graphics

Ah cool, there are maps like this for Black Mesa as well, showing all maps before disaster. Pretty cool.

I do wish I couldve added more NPCs, it wouldve made it feel a little more "alive" for sure. But tbh I'm limited by the small number of characters available with the vanilla game (theres no scientist model with computer typing animation for example). Since Doom 3 only has Mars City 1 and half of Mars City Underground with NPCs, I ended up reusing the same handful of characters and just making them not able to engage in conversation.
I'll definitely try to incorporate more if I work on another map tho! Might work on Mars City 2 / Administration next...
Yes, there are other npcs around in the game: alpha labs 1, 2, 4 and Hazmat scientist in delta 2b. All kind of characters available as npcs.
Oooh, cool. I always thought that a UAC exploration mode would be cool, like if I were playing as a UAC executive checking out all the labs before the invasion occurred.
I wonder if you do manage to get the time to de-evil all the levels that you can release it as a separate “campaign” that’s just exploration. It’d be a walking simulator, sure, but a fun one to contrast with the destroyed demonic base we’re all used to.
