An IRC-based chat app for Call of Chernobyl and Call of the Zone. Allows you to talk to other Stalkers in the Zone.
An IRC-based chat app for Call of Chernobyl and Call of the Zone. Now also compatible with Anomaly. Features an independent client as well as in-game chat, automatic death messages, and compatibility with (hopefully) all other addons. Uplifted to a newer version of .NET Framework, as well as newer Nuget packages. All credit goes to TKGP. I just rebuilt it. Credit also goes to Anchorpoint who created CRCR for Anomaly.
This is a simple IRC chat mod, and further updates will only be fixes or amendments.
To install CoCRC:
- Use 7zip or another program to unzip CoCRC-0.9.2.7z.
- Select the CoC/CotZ folder or the Anomaly folder depending on your mod of choice.
- Copy the files inside into your Call of Chernobyl directory.
- Start 'Chernobyl Relay Chat.exe'
- Go to Options to choose your channel, language or name.
- Start Call of Chernobyl, and while in game press Enter to talk.
- Gasmask, vodka and sausage all optional.
To upgrade CoCRC:
- Open Registry Editor in Windows, and go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> SOFTWARE -> Chernobyl Relay Chat
- Delete the Chernobyl Relay Chat folder in Registry Editor.
- Proceed with normal installation.
Further information can be found in the GitHub repository
Announcements and support can be found on our Discord channel.
Things are quiet on our CRC at the moment, so if you do log in just hang around and enjoy your game. Don't log off immediately haha.
There's still some things that need fixing with CRC. If anyone experiences any crashes please make me aware here, or create an issue on github.
awesome mod! at least something that feels like a multiplayer coop mod :-P
Thanks a lot. And yes it makes you feel a bit less alone in the Zone
Im having a little problem, i let the CRC bypass firewalls, allowed admin, and still it say the same problem that it says it didnt, can anyone help me?
Hey man, do you have a screenshot of any errors or anything? I'll do my best to help you.
I'll look into some solutions
Its just the normal "Could not connect to the IRC server; CRC will now shut down. Try running as administrator or allowing CRC in your firewall", might be because that my region is at asia, and this version is the lastest one that i downloaded
Try going into Registry Editor and removing Chernobyl Relay Chat completely, then open CoCRC 0.8.1 again.
Someone on the internet suggested looking into port forwarding, but I'm not sure about that.
CRC will try to connect to irc.gamesurge.net on port 6667
Are you able to go to gamesurge if you google it?
Do you use antivirus or windows firewall? And can you add a rule to allow 6667 traffic to gamesurge?
Registry editor? ill try it later
1. yes i can go to gamesurge on google
2. only windows firewall, and how do i add a rule to allow that though?
the question now is
When discord server for this fix, im just suggesting it because for the fixes and stuff, and how to do it, so that other people that have my kind of problem can also join in discord
Try looking at this
Answers.microsoft.com
You could even disable windows firewall temporarily
I don't have a discord server, I'm only doing support here, and on github, or potentially in CRC chat
Alright done that, allowed and added the port 6667, its taking longer, but still wont connect, is there a server near ASIA? Man, i really wanted to use this so i wont be alone while playing Call of Chernobyl so i wont be socially awkward later in life man :sadge:
I'll check with Gamesurge, to see if there's any chance they're blocking IPs from Asia, but its unlikely.
Check your router configuration to see if you need to allow 6667 traffic outbound, or port forwarding.
And again if you haven't already, disable windows firewall temporarily.
I'll look for other solutions.
Ill disable windows firewall then, also im a little bit scared that if im tempering my router, so if its the only way, ill do it
Just be careful, and remember you can factory reset it. Generally if you're port forwarding its pretty ok.
At times, I get disconnected from the chat, not sure what the problem might, so I have to start the chat and game again to connect back
Are you able to talk to other people, or does it disconnect immediately all the time?
I'm aware some people in Asia are having issues. Where are you based?
Sounds very promising. Will give it a try!
Update: works as intended!
Cheers!
Is it intentional that dead players are announced by their own profile?
I may have fixed this actually. It'll be in the next update
do you think this would work out of the box with Dead Air?
Not a clue sadly, as I primarily play CoC.
Make a backup and give it a try :)
haha i ended up doing just that. it half-worked. the interface for chatting functioned (I could hit enter to pull up the chat) but chat wasn't showing in-game sadly
Hmm that's unfortunate. I lack the skills and knowledge to make it work for Dead Air I think. It should work for CoC and CotZ at least.
Is there a way to make this addon work with Anomaly Mod? If not, how much work would it require to rewrite it for Anomaly?
There's an existing fork for Anomaly:

If your name is Ilmari and you're having trouble using CRC, please let me know.
If anyone finds they're logging on and off, or you're having issues, please contact me.
Hi taffy62, when the mod is removed, it is not possible to create stashes anymore. Here is the error:
FATAL ERROR
[error]Expression : F
[error]Function : CXml::Load
[error]File : xrXMLParser.cpp
[error]Line : 75
[error]Description : ui\crc_chatbox.xml
This only happens when Enter is pressed after typing the name. Clicking Okay doesn't crash the game.
We've already spoke about this. But for future reference, this could be caused by not removing the scripts folder from gamedata, or its possible you need to start a new game.
Hello Brother me Artem_Absent .. The Error is Could Not Create SSL/TLS secure channel.
I'll look into this error. By default CRC shouldn't use TLS so this is interesting
This may be windows firewall related, you may need to put an exception in place dor CRC. But I'll also check to see if I can fix this in .net also.
The newest update (0.9.2) moved us from GameSurge IRC to Undernet. If you're on an older version please update Cocrc
Just used this for the first time. It was fun talking to fellow stalkers while playing and testing and stuff and I'll be on there more often.
I have a small request: could you write a log of chat messages in a txt file or something in the CoTZ folder? Some things came up in chat that I would like to add to the loading screen Survival Tips. Quotes and such. Deep insights. Stuff that bubbles up in the mind at 3am.
EDIT:
also I can ask people to post crash logs before they restart the game. Some dudes crashed pretty often last night. Like, too often. I may be able to resolve some of those crashes.
I'm not very experienced with coding but I'll add it to my list. I hope to see you on crc again soon.
Don't worry about it, I consider it a nice to have, not an essential feature.
We should have a discord server for CoC players
I agree. Its a shame there was never an official coc server.
If you check the full description of this addon we do have our own cocrc discord server if you'd like to join.
We needed this. For Call of Chernobyl players.
Does this work with stalker gamma?
Yes.
Hi guys, this has significant changes (see github). Please let me know if tou experience any issues. Thank you
Thom Rum.
The new relay chat are leaked every people ip. . . . .
Hi, could you join the discord server and show me what you mean?
~Edit~
After using Wireshark to sniff packets from the network, I haven't been able to see any Ipv4 leakage. The src address is your own local address, and the destination address is the IRC server it comes from.
nah i already fixed that already it's my fault i'm apologize!
That would be cool but the question is, if the mod was fluently integrated in the gameplay dynamics, whether it should then just allow all ingame massive conversation or whether the conversation should be divided between areas treated as separate chatrooms and even perhaps each campfire ought to be a separate chatroom, allowing a maximum of say five participants? In case a campfire was considered a chatroom unit, the question is then whether any random conversation outside of a campfire was to be allowed? If the chatroom is a whole area, then random conversations problem does not exist, since the conversation is just one big local flow.
EDIT: Sorry, my imagination took over and I was actually thinking about something multiplayer.
I don't have the skills to implement that unfortunately. As cool as it sounds. But its all ok Github for anyone else to contribute.
hi. i installed addon and CRC connected and i chose english roleplay. i start new game but when i wrote something nobody reply me.
Hi, its likely no one is online. Our community is small, and people mostly use the main English chat. You can hop on the discord channel and ask if anyone wants to venture into the Zone or roleplay if its quiet. But I recommend checking each channel if you don't see anyone.
But at least we have chat support for CoC/CotZ.
Can i connect to CRCR's IRC Channel?
Hi there, no you would have to download CRCR for that.
