This is a guide describing the most common issues and how to solve them.

Posted by on - Basic Other

Scenario 1

I've got a warning telling me that "One or more plugins could not find the correct versions of the master files they depend on".

A) Ignore the warning. It's not something that will break your game in any way.

Scenario 2

NPCs and statics are doubled. Doubling can be caused by a variety of reasons. Here are the two most common ones:

A) You are running two different versions of Morrowind Rebirth at the same time.
B) You are running an old save-game. You will need to repair your save-game using Wrye Mash. Follow the steps in this guide: click here

I'm unable to access "Data Files" in the Morrowind launcher.

A) Make sure you are running the Morrowind exe as an ”admin”.
B) Run the Morrowind exe in ”compatibility mode”.

Scenario 4

Trunks, logs etc. in the Bitter Coast Region are "white" and doesn't have any textures.

A) Remove 'flora_bc_knee_01' to 'flora_bc_knee_04' and 'flora_bc_log_01' to 'flora_bc_log_02', which all can be found in Morrowind/Data Files/Meshes/f.

Scenario 5

I'm seeing a ton of floating root-meshes in the West Gash Region.

A) It's likely that you're using a tree replacer that overwrites the files included in the Morrowind Rebirth archive. Because of this you will have to replace the root meshes with "empty" meshes.

To do this you have to either:

1) Locate 'flora_root_wg_01' to 'flora_root_wg_08' in the Rebirth archive then paste these into Morrowind/Meshes/f. When asked to overwrite press 'yes to all'.

2) Visit the link here: Nexusmods.com? and pick "Vurt’s Leafy West Gash v10a". When you've downloaded the file open up the archive and copy 'flora_root_wg_01' to 'flora_root_wg_08' , then paste these into Morrowind/Meshes/f. When asked to overwrite press 'yes to all'.

Scenario 6

My mods are not affecting the game, even though I have activated them in the Morrowind launcher.

A) It's likely that this issue is caused by the Morrowind.esm, Tribunal.esm and Bloodmoon.esp overwriting the data changes made by the mods. If using Morrowind through Steam, the esms are sometimes loaded in the wrong order.
The load order should always be:
- Morrowind.esm
- Tribunal.esm
- Bloomoon.esm
-> Rest of the mods.

Note that the Morrowind laucher doesn't always display the correct loadorder, so while it might look fine in the launcher, it might not actually be the case. To fix this issue you can use Wrye Mash: Nexusmods.com

Run Wyre Mash, then right click on the Morrowind.esm -> file -> redate (for example 2002.01 for Morrowind.esm, 2002.02 for Tribunal.esm, and 2002.03 for Bloodmoon.esm), then press OK.

If you're still experiencing issues with mods not loading correctly, the steps down below might do the trick:

  • Set the Morrowind exe to run as ”Admin".
  • Set the Morrowind exe to run in ”Compatibility Mode”.
  • Disable the Steam overlay for Morrowind.
  • Reinstall Morrowind outside 'Program Files'.
  • Untick the Morrowind.ini as 'Read Only' in its properties.
  • Make sure you are using the English version of the game.

Scenario 7

I've lost my key to the house I bought from Imperial Estate Agency in Ebonheart, and now I can't enter the house.

A) If you lose your key you can use the console to add a new key to your inventory with this command:

player->AddItem "X" 1

where X is one of the following:

1. MR_Key_Home_AldRuhn
2. MR_Key_Home_Balmora
3. MR_Key_Home_Caldera
4. MR_Key_Home_SadrithMora
5. MR_Key_Home_Vivec

All of the water textures are whiteish gray and constantly flicker and cause my frames to drop, and when I open my inventory or talk to a npc the texture disappears entirely. Do you kniw whats causing this and how I can fix it?

Never heard of this issue. Are you using MGE XE? If not you should try it and see if it helps: Nexusmods.com?

Could be that you autoinstall mods instead of doing it manually. Morrowind mods are not made for NMM.

I downloaded XGE and used the morrowind Code Patch, which both worked fine, then I added in Morrowind Rebirth, and it's currently breaking all of the dialogue. The greeting screen when you talk to an NPC is replaced with "MARK: TRIBUNAL Dialogues above. ". This prevents you from getting past the tutorial, and it breaks later quests. I was wondering what I could do to fix this, since the mod seems very cool.

Call me a fool if I am wrong but the version I have seems a lot different from Versions I have viewed on youtube when researching this mod (i.e no balmora underground, missing street vendors etc). Is there a compatible mod I am missing or have installed wrong?

Sorry for the late reply. The features you are asking about have been cut out of the mod due to various reasons. Balmoras Underground for example was pretty buggy, and I'm unable to fix the issues.
