Post news Report RSS The Return of Classic Tiberium in "The Forgotten"

Just two days before the release of C&C 3: The Forgotten, we're ready to reveal one of The Forgotten's coolest support powers, the Blossom Tree. Planting a Blossom Tree on the battlefield leads to the return of old style Tiberium around it. This Tiberium grows faster than modern Tiberium, but is worth less. All told, it is a valuable source of secondary income for The Forgotten.

Just two days before the release of C&C 3: The Forgotten, we're ready to reveal one of The Forgotten's coolest support powers, the Blossom Tree. The Blossom Tree Support Power provides a secondary source of income for The Forgotten. It enables The Forgotten to plant a Blossom Tree, as seen in Tiberian Dawn, on the battlefield. The Blossom Tree grows classic Tiberium, which is worth less than modern Tiberium, but which regrows faster. The model and texture are by Tsumetai.

Just two more days! We hope to have an interview for you tomorrow, then the launch trailer and mod will be available on Tuesday. It's time to let the world know The Forgotten are back!

I... can't... WAIT! What a cool support power! I remember ages ago someone asked if you could incorporate the old style tiberium, this is a great way to do so!

So, does the Blossom Tree just appear, growing from the ground or is it dropped from the air like the Nostalgia Bomb it is?

It grows out of the ground, or more accurately, a dead looking tree grows out of the ground, and then the blossom plant forms around it.

It looks nice but... Tiberium evolved during these years, so logically - there shouldn't be Tiberium crystals "in pots"... This is non-canonical and instead of going forward, we going backwards - what make no sense...

In my opinion - there shouldn't be "classic" Tiberium during, and after Third Tiberian War. Only one thing should back - Tiberium alga, which was delated by Electronic Arts whith no reason...

not everything has to evolve in the same direction...

in living creatures (let's assume tiberium is living), evolution is never happens to an entire species at the same time. it's just the more successful one becomes dominant.
the one confusion i have is that this tiberium grows quicker- from what i have read, tiberium assimilation was far quicker in the new tiberium, not to mention that this tiberium took over. if the new tiberium is faster-growing, logically, it would be more successful and remain dominant?

As I said in another reply, this isn't 'exactly' the old Tiberium, this tiberium cultivated by The Forgotten, and as such, is corralled by them. Also, the classic tiberium has a much smaller growth radius than the craters do, and have a smaller max-resources cap.

i have to agree with you but, evolution can't happen very fast. let's say the tiberium tree never evolved for 8 decades and had seeds of the classic tiberium in it. when those seeds leeched out into the ground, the seeds will grow into "potted" tiberium crystals.

oh, and i almost forgot about one thing that the scrin overlord said about the tiberium in earth:
"the ichor (tiberium) deposits in this planets are still immature." so there's a chance that a small portion of the tiberium in earth never evolved since it got here. it's only a matter of growing tiberium trees to grow those.

Tiberium can make animals evolve into giant, wolf-like bulls with crystal shards on their backs. Realism is clearly thrown out of the window for the most part. Let's keep it that way.

The in-game explanation is that The Forgotten saved samples of the old Tiberium and learned to breed it for their own purposes. Real-world evolutionary biologists do this all the time with fast-evolving species, or with species being used to study evolutionary courses.

Enlightened:
I understand concept of the modyfication, but I also, as fan, must looking at the oryginal Tiberium Universe to compare what is fan-fiction and what is canonical or not... Without that - something what people create loses its meaning.
I don't agree with some of creator visions but if they explain 'why' than I accept that idea in a certain extent... because it is non-canonical (like, for e.g. Starkiller in Star Wars Universe).

Aside from the nice little explanation the forgotten staff have given, consider this. There are uncorrupted zones and barely touched zones. Earliest forms of tiberium infestation was the 'tree bred' variety which later evolves into the stuff seen in C&C3 SO we can also assume that as tiberium poisoning spreads into new areas the first wave are the 'tree bred' crystals which also mature. :P l2think outside the box :D

You wait until the last minuite to pull coolness out of your ***? lol, thank you for this amazing update. The suprise is worth it. I kinda always wanted such a support power (to see both forms of tiberium in game, especially back when Kanes Wrath was released)

they are an old faction composed mainly of mutants, humans and animals mutated by tiberium, but instead of tiberium devouring them, it gave them some new abilities.
