Howdy Friends!
We've got some exciting news for you all! You may have noticed we've been eerily silent since first announcing the mod - that time has been well spent getting deep into the codebase and porting Peer Review to Source 2.
Literally one of you may remember this shot from the Peer Review teaser in the initial release of our Hazard Course mod for Black Mesa (As well as this very page's current background image!)
Well, I am pleased to announce that with Source 2's updated poly-count limit, physically-based surface shaders, and raytraced lighting using NVIDIA's patented RTX technology, we were able to update this scene to modern standards, and even have it running at a solid 30FPS on NVIDIA Titan RTX cards!
Some additional features of Source 2's new renderer include an in-depth realtime cloth simulation, screenspace reflections, global illumination, subsurface scattering, and up to 100 consecutive render targets, all lit with fully-dynamic deferred lighting. Additionally, we'll be taking full advantage of the Rubikon physics engine to create new and engaging puzzles. Stay tuned for more folks, because it's only gonna get better from here! That's all we have for you today, but stay tuned for more updates on our Source 2 upgrades, Chapter 1, and beyond!
Source 2 hasn't been released publicly, you guys are not fooling me.
Nice try, but you aren't fooling me.
Nice render. It's almost like it's real life! Source 2 looks amazing, you guys!
Yes, Full-Life is looking amazing!
March 31, not April 1.
