Hi there!
Peredice here with another article.
This time we are going to look at where we came from and what's our current situation.

Lost Industry 1

The Past:

As you may already know, Lost Industry 1 was a test map in the beginning for me to experiment with the
Source SDK for Half Life 2. After a few month I decided to make it a full length level while I'm at it.
After I was "Done" with the map, I came up with the name, "Lost Industry", I've written a small backstory
for the level on GameBanana and published it, didn't think much of it after.
I asked a few of my friend to try it out and give it a rating. Fluffy_, Foofinoo, DKgaming and Joeganaut
gave me a feedback and a few other people gave it a rating too and soon it got around ~1500 views.
After a month I got informed that my Lost Industry map was featured on a contest called
50 Sourcey Days of Summer by RunThinkShootLive, held by Phillip himself.
I was quite surprised because it wasn't made to be an entry map for anything, but I just let it slide.
At October 13th, 2018 Bolloxed made a Full Walktrough of Lost Industry and it got 6700 views and 240 likes. I got in contact with her, and thanked her for playing my level.
Frankly I was quite embarrassed, because I think Lost Industry 1 is not good, in-fact it's bad.
So I've decided that I need to make a sequel, it's going to be Bigger, Better, and much Greater than before.

Lost Industry 2

The Beginning

This project was started in June 28th 2018 on GameBanana by only myself, with the intention of sharing
every information and changes to the viewers and followers along my journey.
It was going great for the first 4 updates, but it soon became tiring.
Fun fact: The really early original idea was for the player to make a choice to:
A; Leave the factory (Would have contained a car driving segment in a forest and escaping by a train)
B; Stay and capture the factory for the rebels (Would have included a big fight in the end)
Either choice would put the player on an entirely different map. This idea was scrapped.

The Development

In July 17th 2018, a friend of mine, Fluffy_ joined in on the project and we started collaborating for 3 months.
In September 18th 2018, an update of my project was posted on GameBanana where I listed what has been done so far, and that was the last
update where Fluffy_ helped me with my project. I had to continue alone once again.
In November I started looking for play testers, on discord I found a guy named alex_mmc, He was kind and agreed to playtest my map. After a week or two he found
interest in the Lost Industry 2 project and decided to help me out.
We've worked on the second level a lot, he made the wave
logic system and I had to fix it to make it work, also he did the decoration of the second half of that map and the design for the Combine Control room in the Arena.
Alex suggested that Lost Industry 2 should be a Mod and not just a mappack, so he set everything up, made a developer version and we continued working.
I had a friend over on Discord, I knew her trough our common Discord Server
for a Half Life 2 mod called: Broken Desert: Operation Predify.
It was a mod by Hector and he used a modified Source engine made and developed by sáruna.
She took interest in Lost Industry 2 and decided to help us out with my project.

At this point I had a Mod with Custom Music and a modified Source engine, things are looking up.
Because of this, in December 22nd 2018 I've created a ModDB page for Lost Industry 2.
Along with this, Alex created a Discord server dedicated to this project.
In February 27th 2019 Alex has left our Development team and transferred the Discord ownership to me.
In March 8th 2019 a new Level designer joined the project, Mr.Skeleton.
And in April 8th 2019 Fluffy_ said that he doesn't have time to work on the project, so he left our Development team.

The Present

Sometimes I feel like this is too much, that I bit more than I could chew. Didn't expect this to be this "big".
First in my life had to manage people, look after them and work for something meaningful.
But I'm not going to give up, we going to keep on working to create something, something memorable that others might enjoy,
It's so far a 0 budget fan project mind you, I still haven't payed anyone, nor did I get any money for this.

I know this was a boring read, but I really wanted to share this story.

Thank you for reading <3

Until next time,
Farewell...

Time passes through and I still carry this cringey name

Your playtesting community believes in you! Lost Industry 2 is a big thing indeed, and I wanted to say that Lost Industry 1 was really good, it had far better concept, looks and atmosphere than any other's first map out there! (Including my)

Those things, they take time, take as much time as you need, just make sure it ships before Half-Life 3 okay?)
