Post news Report RSS Squad Mods and More Community Creations

I've been hard at work creating more mods that change Delta's appearance - and so have other SO:TL fans! Let's cover some new developments from the Spec Ops modding community.

Spec Ops: The Line is becoming more and more pliable to modding thanks to UPK Explorer. The program is allowing for some truly creative mod concepts to come together, and I'm thrilled to see other fans take advantage of it!

The arrival of the second Squad Mod Pack coincides with some great mods by other SO:TL community members. Like my TimeSplitters 2 Modding Resource Pack, its contents are meant to be both entertaining and useful. Modders can feel free to edit or use its custom UPK files as they please! In the same vein, players can have fun playing as Grey Fox or Zulu Squad.

Other new developments can be found on Nexus Mods. Two of the latest additions to Spec Ops' growing list of mods are here - one turns Walker into an armored 33rd soldier (which includes battle damage over time for Walker!), and the other gives him his epilogue outfit for the entire game. They work with most other mods, including my own Eternal Penance campaign mod!

Steam user pspdan has gone a step further by importing models from other games - even on different engines! Some of the model changes he's showcased are something truly spectacular. I never imagined seeing Simon from Cry of Fear in Spec Ops...let alone some of his wilder mods!

The reverse of this trend, importing Spec Ops models into other games, has also proven to be fruitful. The Unslain Dragon has an entire series of SO:TL characters imported into XCOM 2 as usable units, complete with voice lines from the game! Left 4 Dead 2 has also had an influx of Spec Ops mods over the past couple of years, from characters to weapons to music.

All of the attention on Spec Ops is really encouraging. I hope the community will continue to grow and that we'll see even more of these creative mods in the future! Community support is what keeps a game thriving for years or even decades after release.
