So recently updates have been slack, Insanelymatt's taking a while to get back into contact properly since he got a new computer, but we finally have a texturer, 880zero.

As you can see from the longsword texture he's pretty damn good already, only having started texturing last week. He's working on the frigate next, so look forward to that.

In terms of new content, the UNSC prowler, anchor 9 station, a carrier variant of the frigate and a line of corvettes and light frigates will be in the line. Covenant ships will depend on when i'm really in the mood for them, even with the new quicker method they're a much larger investment to create.

In addition to that we have the Marathon, CCS, Covenant destroyer, Seraph and covenant picket to add to the game, i'll try to model a Covenant shipyard so that the Covenant can actually start being balanced, even if it's a place-holder.

It seems more and more likely lately that trying to really add any new features is a bit of a pipe dream, given the severe lack of coders and scripters, so it's probably likely that we'll give up on our idea for the resource system and just go with the conventional asteroid harvesting, so expect some utility ships to appear too.

Also, i've seen it crop up a few times now; people complaining about the lack of balance, AI, etc. I can only think that those of you doing this started following us recently, don't actually read updates, or have forgotten, but we stated our intention for the beta was to balance the basic UNSC first - the "true" beta build we released didn't contain anything more than the UNSC frigate and longswords, the other version that contained the Covenant was released purely because we thought the mod was dead and people wanted to play around with all the ships.

Keep this in mind before complaining or even offering advice - The build you're concentrating on isn't the build we're focusing on, it's a half a year old build that we stopped work on after the old coder left.

If you wish to offer useful criticism, go back and play the "dull" build with the newer model frigate and longswords so we can refine the values on those as a basis for the rest of the UNSC and Covenant.

Well keep up the work guys! it's looking great so far, and I wont complain as long as I can play with UNSC ships :D

Congrats on snagging a texture artist. Obviously amature does not mean unskilled, as his work on the Longsword is an excellent start to texturing HW2 ships.

It is indeed great news that you guys found a texturer. His work looks very promising.

And yes, its annoying when people don't read updates. I like following a mod team's development.

Is there any news on a fix for not being able to see the textures? What's strange is that the Covenant ships seem to be fine, but my UNSC ones are just greyish blobs. Is this known, and can I fix it?

On an update about not reading updates, you post a question that's been answered alot?

The "blob" problem is something we've fixed and you'll see this in the next build.

The "texture" problem isn't a problem, when the build was released we had no texture artist. The new build will include Zero's new textures.

I'm sorry about the oxymoronic post, but all I had seen was "Some people aren't seeing textures", rather than a straight "we've fixed this/it's not our fault" response. So I figured I would ask directly.
